It is what it is, give it some time and you'll more or less forget it's there.

One cool little trick for temporary removal is to cover both ears with the base of your palms, then drum with your fingertips on the base of your skull for about 30 seconds. You'll get maybe 10-20 seconds worth of pure silence after you take your hands away, sometimes it won't be quite as loud when it comes back too (can be useful if its keeping you awake). Doesn't sound like a lot, but if you've lived with non stop eeeeeeeeeeeeeee for years on end, it's honestly pretty surreal to not hear it at all, even for a few seconds.

Well it is winter. In the summer I usually just use the dryer for socks and underwear because they're a pain to line dry. In the winter I redirect the exhaust back into the house. Why waste the heat? But in summer, even venting outside, it's a lot of leftover heat I need to cool off. So you have a point there.

You are upper class bro, figure it the fuck out. People making 35k figure out child support and a divorce. I do not understand how someone in your earning tier does not have a solid CPA in your corner to avoid shit like this. You should be taking advantage of tax code at this point.

I see most people are addressing the IRS issue, and it's a big one, but the credit card debt needs fixed ASAP.

Assuming you make $250k per year, I assume you get about $13k a month. With a mortgage of $280k, your mortgage should be in the range of $1700-$2300 depending on interest rate. That leaves you with ~$11k. Ive never had student loans (GI Bill) so Ill assume a high end of $200/month. $10800 left. I'm leaving out child support, basic monthly expenses, etc.

You should, in theory, be able to comfortably set aside $5k every month to address the CC debt. You could literally knock that $40k out in less than a year! Aside from the tax debt, CCs should be your absolute #1 priority for the foreseeable future along with the problem that got you there in the first place. This looks like the classic lifestyle trap of high income earners. Not trying to be an ass, but this needs to be a wake up call, otherwise you'll end up living paycheck to paycheck while earning more than 98% of most others not being able to enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Almost everything in existence is available in some form (book or e-book) so I just don't see any argument in allowing counterfeit books to exist, nor their sellers. Respect authors and buyers -- it's not about the free trade of information.

It really somewhat depends on the dynamics of the relationship (then and now). But, generically, if they are trying to get you to engage in behaviors you not longer find interesting or acceptable, something along the lines of “I’ve changed a lot since you last knew me and no longer do (fill in the blank)”.
