That happens sometimes. It's usually because people stop having a conversation with themselves around who they are and what they want to be, and instead began having a conversation with themselves around who they were and all the memories from those times.

Just change the conversation topic and take a little bit of time to re-discover.

I passed a certification exam with the minimum score needed. I studied for months and felt somewhat ready, and on test day I was broadsided, as if I’d never seen anything remotely related to this material. At one point I was just guessing, shaking my head, giving up. I clicked submit and saw the score. I was speechless for 5 minutes, just staring at the screen. Had to have been pure, unadulterated luck.
