My old apartment complex in Newington advertises their apartments as “luxury.” Carpets and linoleum, white appliances, Formica countertops. They re-stained and polyurethaned the doors without cleaning them so there were long strands of hair sealed onto the door surfaces.

I'm not sure what would change then. If the law already states that servers have to make Min wage, but people aren't following it, a law that says the same thing doesn't change anything. What needs to be changed is people learning workers' rights in high school. I've taught plenty of high schoolers working their first job to stand up for themselves and know their rights.

I used to work in receiving at Sears and this sort of shit would happen all the time. I’m sure one of my old coworkers still has a pic of the Prius with a new full sized washer and dryer loaded “in”/on it. I also remember the idiot who took his wife’s Infiniti to pick up his new Craftsman tool box, while his 3500 dually truck was parked at home.

People who make over 150k and don’t want to deal with ownership. We live within an hour of NYC there are tons and tons of people making big city salaries who see these apartments as cheap and convenient by comparison.

My sister and her husband live in the city. He’s had longer commutes than a train rider from CT and they paid WAY more money for a WAY smaller place in an insanely dated coop.
