Thanks! I’ve stopped down there hiking the mattatuck and saw trash like people hang there. I was unsure if the signs were related to the trail or he wood surrounding them. Especially the way they’re angled.

I was asking for a friend who works at a facility that takes their clients swimming. They were looking for swimming areas off the beaten path. I told them I thought this place was off limits, but couldn’t find much info.

Thanks again!

Yeah and unfortunately some people are taking advantage of that which is expected. Just yesterday I saw a house in Fairfield (06825) that needed a good amount of updates and they were asking like 950K. I wouldn't pay 500K for that house. Just gotta keep our fingers crossed. Seems like Newtown has a lot of nice homes in our price range as well.

Westport is nice, but more expensive. Overall in Connecticut since 1980, the population has grown about 25% but housing has not kept up, hence our housing shortage. I don’t expect it to go away for a while.

We really like Fairfield and that is where I've spent the most time because that's where our friends live. I realize inventory is still low but some of the asking prices for houses in Fairfield are just laughable.

I am in the same position as OP, and you have to understand that the “high income” number is the gross number, and hotel bills come out of your net income. If you make $300k per year base, before any bonuses that sounds like a lot; almost $1000 per day in pay. Then comes the tax man and 401k savings, and health insurance. It turns out they all want $400 every day from you.

When the net is $600 out of 1000, and the hotel man wants $500 of that? Not a good plan.

It isn't really a place for swimming or any type of water activities like that. I believe there are signs warning against it. It's not someplace I'd ever suggest someone would really want to visit - I definitely wouldn't recommend getting in the water there as it gets deep awfully quick. If someone were to have an issue there, they're in serious trouble as no help is coming quickly.

There are far, far better places - and far more accessible places - for activities in the area and, especially on weekdays, you may be the only one there to enjoy them even at the height of fishing season/summer/whatever season you're there.

whitney-grove garage in NH on grove st. you'll get to see the construction shoring up the below-street portion where you will soon get the trail. for now, park there and cross the start of whitney ave and get over to temple street. on temple and just where the diagonal trail is underground it emerges just past that temple street overpass. you can see a footpath to walk/ride down onto the trail from there; that's the current NH start point. before you start you can spin around and see what it will look like peering through the tunnel/underpass in the direction where you came from- right under temple st and under whitney.
