Agreed. I grew up in Trumbull, but visited a lot for family. I loved Milford. I know the Trumbull school system is seen as better, but overall I think Milford gives you more bang for your buck. A great downtown, the mall, the movies, a good school system for lower taxes than Trumbull, nice people, the train station, and beaches.

Hi Gabby, I've been reading alot about the global population crisis. How does this uniquely impact Connecticut differently and are there any possible solutions to this growing problem?

Very important work, thank you. My parents are in their 80’s and still doing ok enough to live in their home but many of their friends have had experience in. It’s short and long term facilities. I think every one has some bad story. Most recently, someone who wasn’t bathed for over a week.

There is a ton of parking in the area already. Hartford has been decimated by parking. The money could really be better used. Part of the hospital's role should be to improve the health of its community. In fact I'd argue it is their primary responsibility. It's why hospitals get extensive tax breaks and other preferential treatment. I think most people in healthcare could tell you, the systemic and environmental factors are enormous factors in the health of the community. Money wisely spent on public health is probably vastly more effective than money spent on... A parking garage

I can tell you DJ Hernandez is a grown man with a degree from UConn and still wrote "realeyes" instead of "realize" on his brick-note.

Where should families visiting their hospitalized children park? Because there are exactly 2 children’s hospitals in Connecticut, meaning the hospital serves fae more than just Hartford.

It’s a good football stadium and would be really nice as a concert venue. Unfortunately they don’t host many concerts there and I have no idea why. It’s bigger than The Meadows and could be used to bring bigger acts to CT like Metallica or Bruce Springsteen.

Milford is my favorite one. One high school (Foran) is considered better than the other (Johnathan Law), but both are good. There's a train station to get you right to NYC, or to Bridgeport here in CT for events. I visited a lot growing up and I still do. Very nice city.
Shelton is close by. My current hometown. I love it here. You get the privilege of saying you live in Fairfield County for incredibly low taxes. I think the schools are seen as slightly less good than Milford, but they are still very good. There's a bunch of farms here. There's a also a train station to get you between Waterbury and Bridgeport. You can switch in Bridgeport for a train to NYC.
I grew up a town over in Trumbull. They have an amazing school system, a great music department, and great sports teams. The taxes are very high though, but if you want an expensive town with a great school system this is the one to choose. The really expensive ones such as Westport, Fairfield, Wilton, Darien, Greenwich, Easton, and so on are rip offs in my opinion. If it came down to it your kids would be able to apply to the agriscience program at Trumbull High someday. Milford high schools are good enough though. I know people with kids at Johnathan Law (the one seen as less good). No problems.
Overall I vote for Milford. Nice people, the mall, Dave & Busters at the mall, the movies, a train station with a train directly to NYC, but also stopping in Bridgeport for events, and a great downtown area.

Why is it the hospitals responsibility to provide fresh fruits/veggies to the local community? Or build playgrounds? Or any of the other things you mention? And why would them building a garage even prohibit them from doing that in the first place should they choose to do those things?
Facts are that CT children’s hospital is a massive location: workers need somewhere to park (people work all kinds of shifts and buses don’t run 24 hours), people visiting or patients also need places to park.
Also it’s kind of amusing you bring up the fact that buses in Hartford are always late and then wonder why people don’t like to use them.

So... the community needs to vote better in order for people who aren't part of the community to have somewhere to park?

That isn't how any of this works...
Hospitals = health care. They have nothing to do with revitalizing the city of Hartford.
It isn't their responsibility to run food banks or refurbish play grounds. They do research and provide care for children's health.
The garage will be used by the parents and people utilizing the facility. People need to start voting better to be able to have these things for the community.

I wonder if it’s possible to have a parking garage that also has small store fronts or something on some of the bottom level. Or like a solar panel farm on the very top.

If CCMC wants a parking garage for its growing workforce, then I don't see any concern with it. Hartford is incredibly lucky to have CCMC invest in the city and the city should be encouraging as much development as possible.
