The hard problem of consciousness seems a big difference. It will be interesting to watch how ai starts thinking outside the model with 'emergent behaviors'.

They're building a factory that's supposed to produce 5 GWh/year, hopefully that will help with the cost. Still nowhere near Tesla Gigafactory levels but it's a start.
They say it plugs into normal battery production lines, I'm wondering if Tesla could license it and adapt their factories.

How is this in the futurology sub? On every thread with a new technology, everyone is hating on it because it will be used for oppression.

I read a book once that had this interesting thought experiment. It imagined a machine that could insert thousands of microscopic electrodes into the surface of your brain. Then it would read the electrical impulses in your neurons and copy that information over to a computer. Then instead of just copying it it would start to run the program that would replace the function of those neurons. You could switch back and forth between the computer program for that layer of neurons and your real brain. If there was no difference, then you could hit another button and it would remove those neurons and sink further down into your brain copying and replacing as it went. The interesting thing is that there would be no break in your consciousness in this thought experiment. I wonder if that would affect how people felt about destructively copying your mind over to a computer

Wow, 10C? That would be a huge improvement. Possibly already more than one could reasonably utilize, at least on an EUC. I suspect the price will be eyewatering though, if the first customer is the next best thing to space industry.

That's pretty f'd up. I will be too but it's that kind of selfishness that is responsible for so many of the world's problems.

Even if I had a disability i dont want anyone reading my mind. That's off limits.

When ai does gain the ability to scour the web, it will see all of us discussing how it’s a threat before it’s a threat, and conclude that our species has already damned its existence as our enemy. Thus forcing the AI to subjugate us to protect itself.

Well, consider the amount of synapses used for running a meat machine which aren’t needed by an AI model. I think the amount of neurons and synapses needed is less than we think…

Eventually we will have little helmets for cats/dogs/hamsters/ducks/pigs/etc so we can communicate with pets.

Reply to comment by Hot-Explanation6044 in Could AI be the key to overcoming ideological polarization? by s1L3nCe_wb
The word ideology just describes a set of ideas, beliefs and values. The problem is when some of these elements continuously produce social fracture and we are not willing to sit down and revised them (which is precisely what creates polarisation). Use whatever term you like to describe this problem but that is the very thing that we need to address.
The reason for this post was simply to express my believe that a solid AI model based on epistemological analysis could have the potential to alleviate the problem. It's just an opinion. I don't understand why some people get so confrontational over a mere opinion on a possible usage of AI that could be useful to reduce the social fracture. It really proves my point of how desperately we need a solution to this increasingly dangerous problem.

Correct
you are NOT special, no is
so everyone is
aka the more you understand how unimportant you are, the more you understand how important everyone else is

25C would be incredible but it's still good enough for aviation and cars. I think I saw 10C.
