Not that long ago most people would live their lives without leaving their villages/county, they knew no other cultures or ways of living, life was what it was and all they knew. According to that article life then was boring and bland and maybe it was, maybe not.

I feel like only now we are so expoiled and overstimulated that some people get anxiety if there is not constant change in theit lifes, new places, new food, new people...

It never used to be like that and it isn't nor will ever be more boring or bland than it was few centuries ago when you knew a hundred of people all over your life, 5 places and 3 different food alternatives.

The following submission statement was provided by /u/filosoful:

The European Parliament has reached a provisional agreement with the EU Council regarding charging and hydrogen refueling stations across Europe.

The rule states that by 2026, there will be charging stations at every 60 kilometers along the TEN-T network.

For those who don't know, the TEN-T is the EU's ambitious transport network project that includes highways, roads, ports and trains, connecting all parts of the Old Continent.

As it is described in the article, the world is becoming more bland, more homogeneous. In our daily lives, we are the witnesses of this trend that we find everywhere from the content we consume to the places we visit. As a society, should we go along with it or should we strive for more uniqueness in our lives ? Moreover, is there a way to roll back to a more unique society nowadays ?

Which is why on top of regulations on how AIs might be designed there also need to be AIs able to detect if something has been AI created. You can not trust that everyone will be playing by the rules (if anything expects that, they really haven't been paying attention) so our only hope is trying to detect if someone is not.

This sounds like misdirected and misplaced anger and frustration - many of us share the same frustrations, but I think your response is a little unwarranted and makes a number of assumptions.

Programming is not worthless. It has countless applications.

Messaging /Communication is not worthless per se. It can be used in a multitude of ways, including to educate and inform.

And even if we focus purely on entertainment, yes we could abandon all attempts at entertainment because the world is crumbling, but I’m not sure that will change much in reality, unfortunately. Everyone needs down-time, even people who spend the rest of their time saving the planet. AI could perform jobs/tasks that will be done regardless of whether we like them or not, and do then far more efficiently (cutting down on development time could cut down on power-usage, emissions etc in a number of industries).

Giving people the means to express themselves is the thing that saves the planet. The problem is not not enough resources but mostly the fact we are willing to kill and exploit each other. So doing things that develop our culture is helping us survive. It is often the utilitarian approach to life that makes life miserable and miserable people are more willing to exploit each other

We can’t even collectively agree to stop burning down the only house we can live in because the people with the power benefit while the rest of us deal with the consequences. I feel like it will go exactly the same way with AI.

I read a headline earlier that firms are actively recruiting “AI whisperers” to better hone the responses for AI and for AI users, and paying huge salaries to those people.

The cat is already out of the bag. Effective regulations should have been in place already, but governments are famously reactive, as opposed to proactive.

So, like most things in this world, the rich will get richer from it, and everyone else will have to deal with the consequences of it when it goes to shit.
