No, because (as I mentioned earlier) there is a fair use exemption which allows humans to be educated using copyright works. However, there is no such exemption allowing corporations to train AI using copyright works.

I think the very fact that we have morality despite not being influenced by an outside intelligence suggest that morality is an emergent condition of intelligence. Adhering to ethics has strong evidence for self preservation.
An ASI for example wouldn't be unethical because even if it decided to kill a weak species like us, it sets a precident for future interactions with other species. Imaging an AI was made in a star far away and it came into contact with Earths ASI. If it saw that this ASI killed its founding species, despite that species being ethical and good, then the alien ASI would conflict with the earth ASI.
Basically killing the founding species is not a smart choice as it causes conflicts with self preservation. If humans and AI came to an agreement to collaborate then the AI wouldn't have any problem.

Tl;Dr: OP blaming sleepy Joe over Republican Congress and Supreme Court decisions.
Edit: If you all took the time to do a single Google search you'd see that the Bureau of Land Management is an agency within the United States Department of the Interior, and as such, it is accountable to Congress through the Secretary of the Interior.
Edit^2: The BLM is required to provide regular reports to Congress on its activities, budget, and performance, as well as to respond to requests for information or testimony from congressional committees. Congress also has the power to authorize and appropriate funds for the BLM's operations and programs, and to conduct oversight and investigations of the agency's activities.

An enormous swathe of the Gulf of Mexico, spanning an area the size of Italy, was put up for auction on Wednesday for oil and gas drilling, in the latest blow to Joe Biden’s increasingly frayed reputation on dealing with the climate crisis.

So Congress and the Supreme Court, both overwhelmingly controlled by Republicans.
Wipe that egg off your face.

Your claim is that OpenAI has negotiated usage rights from every single site it’s gotten data from? Do you have any evidence for this?

Doubtful, more like a bunch of shitty AI are in charge of various things. Read the book Weapons of Math Destruction if you want to learn about real world examples of AI harming humans. Much more mundane than what you're imagining, but still damages and controls humans

ChatGPT has “learned” some generalizations from the text that it’s processed, but it has also literally memorized (I.e. copied) billions of words from it.

What you describe is not artificial general intelligence but just a neural network or some script.

So companies have to pay a licensing fee to every artist who’s work that employees of that company have ever looked at?? Yeah, I don’t think that’s how it works.

You people act like every charger will be used 100% of the time. You also act as if electric cars can't use used as batteries to power the grid under high demand lmao...

I think I see what you're saying. I'm gonna try and simplify it for my caveman brain so I know we're on the same page, and then pose a question for you -
1 - i read a scientific paper from the year 3023 with new info and new words (or combinations of words, for ex, if I read the words "string theory" in the 1930s, I'd have no idea what to do with it) with new meanings/ideas that really haven't been in existence before this time 2 - no matter how much I read it, I really just won't understand how these new concepts and words connect to my legacy concepts and words, until someone reasons out for me what those new words and concepts mean or I, say "get creative" and figure it out for myself 3 - I study that connection between the old concepts and new concepts until I have a clear understanding and roadmap of the connection between them
So what I'm getting from your comment is that AI really can't do step two, but I, a human, can. But - I'd propose that the only way to do step 2 is by using the current roadmap I have and proposing new solutions, then testing them to see if they align with the solution (maybe oversimplifying here).
So my question for you is, to determine the truth of the process in step 2, is it testing or proposing new solutions that limits AI?

This depends on one of the following two assumptions:
- AI is no smarter than its masters (i.e. can be controlled by a human will) or 2) AI has no independent will.
IMO, 1 is a time-limited proposition, and 2 is The Question.

Aw yeah, that was me like just a few days ago! It'll happen again, so remember to reflect on what your environment and recent behaviors whenever you start feeling weird, that's what I try to do anyway and it works most of the time.
People say routine daily exercise, even if it's like super brief(<10min jumping jacks or outdoor walking, for example) can help keep us grounded too.
