As someone born and bred in THE County I can guarantee you that they should’ve only said northern Penobscot and Piscataquis counties and Aroostook County as northern Maine 🤣

Lol. Most of us are just inland Mainers and don’t know any lobstermen personally. Therefore we judge them from stereotypes and what we read in the news. No doubt this is unfair.
What are the stereotypes? Lobstermen are rich bastards. Lobstering is a closed, “in the family” type industry that doesn’t share the wealth with average Mainers. Lobstermen are belligerent drunks and drug addicts. Lobstermen are grifters who make their living selling revolting prison food to ignorant tourists who think it’s a delicacy. Probably all of this is unfair.
What do we hear on the news? “Lobstermen whine about wind power, say it will destroy industry.” “Lobstermen whine about not being allowed to kill whales, say it will destroy industry.” “Lobstermen rally for LePage, say Mills will destroy industry.” You guys come across as a bunch of whiny, hysterical, selfish motherfuckers in the newspapers. Probably this is not entirely your fault.
If you don’t want to be generalized in this way, express the diversity of your opinions. Organize groups to lobby in favor of offshore wind or whale protections, or to open up the industry and make it less insular and more accessible to people who didn’t grow up in lobstering families. The fact that you are generalized so much is partially your own fault for not showing us your other sides.

For sure, many towns have local energy / climate committees. Several towns have Sierra Club affiliated climate action teams. The communities on and arond Mount Desert Island have a great organization called A Climate to Thrive. ACTT has a regular coordinating call with allied groups around the state so if you emailed them they could probably put you in touch with someone near you.

I have the same generation Miata and did this same exact job last month. The only things you need are a spring compressor (you can rent one at most auto stores, like NAPA), a wrench set, a breaker bar, jack, and jack stands.
I'm not sure how much your struts were, but returning them and buying coilovers would make the job much easier. The coilovers come as a fully-assembled unit. So you only have to jack the car up, take the three nuts off at the top of the shock tower, take the shock bolt off of the back of the knuckle, pull out the shock/spring assembly, and then reinstall the bolts in reverse with the coilover in place. No spring/shock disassembly required at all. And with the coilovers, you can adjust the suspension height and stiffness, and it'll make the car handle (and look) much better.
If you absolutely want those struts put in, I may be able to help out. DM me.

Remember the 50/50/50 Rule:
If you’re 50 yards from shore, and the water is below 50 degrees, you have a 50/50 chance of making it back alive.

Goddamnit this keeps happening to me where I reply to someone and they delete their comment.
They said something like “this whole thing is stupid and you should fire your intern you didn’t even use a picture of Maine that’s NH and I’m very smart”
The picture looks uncannily like the foreground of Franconia Notch viewed from Artists Bluff. Except Mt Lafayette is missing in the back. And you can’t see distant water from there. And the road isn’t along the shore of this weird-shaped Echo Lake. And the ski trails at Cannon are somehow missing. I can totally see where someone might get confused.
The profile of the land also looks more vaguely like Crawford Notch viewed from Mt Willard, except it’s absolutely not.
I was genuinely curious where this person thought the picture was taken.
I’ll have to go check it out on MDI! I’ve never really been to the island. Been all around it, but I don’t think I’ve ever actually set foot on the island.

To be clear, they weren't clamming in the skiff; they'd just been harvesting at an island and were crossing the river back to land, presumably with a load of clams as well as the 3 people.

Very good rule of thumb. Although in Maine in March, it’s probably more like 10% chance of survival. Always stay with the boat if you can
