I grew up in central PA, about an hour-ish south of williamsport, and would see gulls all the time. Hell, I’m in WI now and I just saw some migrating the other day. They’re kind of an everywhere bird. Seagull is a misnomer. There’s even an argument amongst the bird people that gulls shouldn’t be called seagulls bc of the fact they don’t solely live by seas and oceans.
I like to call them seagulls at the beach and gulls everywhere else bc its fun that way lol

I live off the river in Harrisburg and not if them year round. Sometimes you'll get hering guls, the really big ones, up here
Pennzingers t1_jcgfq61 wrote
They're pretty common up here. They were most likely pushed off the coast and up the bay / susquehanna river because of the noreaster that just passed

But why are they there? I see them in HBG and LanCo. and York and I just want to understand why.

Oh that reminded me of the grass-mowing goats. I always got a laugh out of seeing them for some reason.

Are you sure? The Pacific Northwest has Idaho, and Montana is home to one of the main organizers of the Charlottesville, VA debacle.
While the Pacific Northwest is put down for its liberal big cities, step outside Seattle and Portland, and they have more than their fair share of Aryan Nation jerks with the added northwest twist of trying to justify it using their Norse heritage (as the northwest received a huge influx of immigrants from the Nordic countries).

Live in south central PA. Seagulls hanging out in store parking lots in winter has been a thing as long as I can remember.

I've driven through. I saw a few too many confederate flags for my comfort, which incidentally is what this thread is about. A crazy amount of poverty, too. It's terribly sad.

Reply to If you've been to an airshow in Pennsylvania, chances are you heard the voice of Howdy McCann announcing. Howdy passed away on March 9, 2023 at the age of 71. The last airshow he announced was in Leesburg, Virginia in September 2022. This was the final act he called, from up close and from behind the crowd line.
