Green Bridge Society can walk you through the process. It's very easy. Just look them up and email them. It's going to cost $150 or more the first time.

As far as the police, if you get pulled over and they smell or see it, or you look high AF then yes, you're subject to a DUI. However they do not know you are a patient by just running your name and license #

You cannot get a dui just for having a card. That said, dui blood tests often include one for marijuana metabolites. These chemicals remain in the blood long after ingestion, presumably after the "high" is gone. A positive result can get you a dui. The dui law is based on marijuana being a federal schedule 1 drug, supposedly having no valid medical use. As far as I'm aware, there is no acceptable "therapeutic level" of thc regarding dui. You're taking your chances, even long after use. I'd suggest not driving after ingesting, and not keeping the card or medication in the vehicle. Also don't advise police you have a card. This will greatly reduce the odds of being tested. Of course, if you have a CDL, or are involved in a serious or fatal accident, you may be subject to testing anyway.

Lotta good comments for central PA. My personal favorite area is around Col Denning/Tuscarora state forest but that is probably TOO rural.

If you want Eastern PA but not right in the Philly suburbs, have you considered Easton to Perkasie to New Hope triangle?

There some real pretty areas around, I’m personally big into with the area of Upper Bucks along the Delaware, and if you’re flexible, you can find decent house and a little bit of land for still a (comparatively) decent price in this market. Decent parks to check out are Ralph Stover/Tinicum, Ringing Rocks, Tohickon Valley Park.

In general it’s pretty grew up that way- look on Google earth for example, in comparison with the Philly burns- but still a lot of access to stores and healthcare job opportunities.

That’s not how they price the commodity though. It’s a bundle price based on the average of all sources of generation that are purchased by a given distribution company.

You don’t consciously choose the plant that generates your power. The distribution utility buys from one to many sources to keep the grid fed with power based on demand. Plants like nuclear power plants provide the stable base load in most cases. Some gas and even coal plants do the same in some areas. More gas and coal plants are fired up as “peaking plants” as demand rises and falls throughout the day.

The price you pay is based on the average of all sources used by your distribution company and is regulated by the PUC. The distribution company makes no money on the electricity it purchases by PUC regulation. It’s a straight pass through. The monthly flat rate customer charge and the other distribution charges on the bill cover their costs and generate their profit. The profit is also regulated by the PUC as part of the rate making process.

The only way to sort of get close to picking your generating source is to buy from a “green” supplier. But even many of these turn out to be scams.

I would suggest the harrisburg area. Lots of hospitals including a large VA hospital that is almost always hiring (my wife is a doctor there). Lower cost of living compared to philly or Pittsburg. But lancaster city provides most of the amenities of a larger city. Housing in the burbs can still be had in the 300kish range. I also have 1gb up and down for internet.
