I've been to Lancaster, I loved that little city! I definitely want to go to New Hope

Reading had union chocolate jobs, it was called Ludens... that factory's jobs were exported to China over a decade ago. The only chocolate factory to move out of the city. Woo unions
Edit: We're heading down the Reddit sinkhole, no counter arguments given but the narrative must still persist in all its purity, the down votes have begun to rain down. An entire town and its generational trauma from union jobs leaving simply cannot understand the brilliance of "just unionizing" from people who likely aren't employed. We're just sheeple!

Amtrak to Lancaster via Philadelphia. Nice small downtown area with a weekend market and plenty of restaurants/bars. Or you could even continue onto Harrisburg to see the state capitol complex, walk along the river, and go out to eat/drink. If you don’t venture out of either city, you could get by walking

Being shielded from the costs of mistakes is deregulation. Regulation prevents “mistakes” (negligence) and holds accountable those who violate the terms. Basic stuff, really.

Seconding this as a Lehigh Valley native. There's a lot to see and do in the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton area, and it's a lovely region.

That’s what I’m implying - plant management is going to have some explaining to do if this is true

I mean Amtrak stops at 30th street station and you can get most places in Philadelphia by regional rail or subway from 30th street

Well that's different. Socialism is only bad when it before benefits other people.

We need to keep naming and shaming the companies AND (mostly importantly) the executives who are actively destroying our future

My best bet would be to take the bus to Allentown. I want to visit New Hope too but I guess driving is the option that makes the most sense
