The Castle was awesome back in the day. However, once they started serving food etc, it went downhill fast.

lol idk why you’re arguing completely against headlights. Maybe it can be both?! I certainly know an illegal bike without legal lights didn’t help the situation that played out the other night. I think we can agree on that.
Edit: obviously these two dead people were being reckless idiots. Saying the bike isn’t the issue is also flatly wrong

Driving your street legal bike at night with the lights off. Or if they aren’t working at all. Is the same effect. Same thing can happen with a car. THAT is the reckless part.
Off road vehicles have headlights too. They don’t have turn signals. But that’s not the issue.
RECKLESSNESS is the root cause here.

I’ve never lived in a city that claimed to restrict overnight parking as Providence does, but I’ve lived in a bunch of cities that actually give tickets for (non-meter) parking violations, which PVD rarely seems to do.
If you park on the street-cleaning side of the street in other cities when you’re not supposed to, parking enforcement officers drive a block ahead of the street sweepers and will happily ticket you.
By contrast, the parking enforcement here (like so much else) is mostly performative, such that when someone actually does get a citation it’s a genuine surprise.
The capricious enforcement leads to cynicism and contempt for rules in general, which seeps into civic culture and people’s attitudes toward any kind of personal responsibility.
Fair but consistent enforcement is better than absent or sporadic enforcement …

It was called Federal Hill Pizza and they are permanently closed.

Just curious man, are these faux wealthy people you know born-and-raised in RI or from other parts of the country? The reason I ask is because outside of a few pockets in RI (Newport, EG, etc), you usually don't see that kind of flashiness. People from Long Island, Dallas, and California on the other hand...

The castle cinema 🥲 I saw a lot of Disney movies there in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Loved that place

Check out usda loans; you can get a loan with 0 down and/or very low interest for buying in a less developed area.

Yes the castle, I used to live right up the street. I loved seeing movies upstairs in the puppet theater, you could get away with anything up there 🙄 It was cool how they opened the curtains up before the movie started..,

When you could not be an outright "Sundown Town" anymore, the overnight parking ban was a next best thing. If you do not have the means to secure off street parking, we do not want you around.
Its most zealous supporters continue to be NIMBYs who find it a convenient weapon against neighbors in multifamily houses.

> Let’s be clear. The issue isn’t “dirt bikes”. Because this very thing can happen with street legal bikes
Sure, a street legal bike can be crashed but a street legal bike needs to have headlights. So 🤷♀️

Agree with everything you said. Plus the article said the guy purchased the bike a day or two before, so I’m guessing not the most experienced rider either. Smh.
RIP though

Castle was on Chalkstone. I don't remember food being served. I was able to catch one movie there lol.

There must be quite a few people who work for the DMV on here because I even got down voted for posting the link to "Know your Rights".
People are ridiculous. If anyone here thinks all the money the DMV collects from us is going back into RI you are a living in a fantasy land. Look at the amount of tax we have to pay!! Buying the car there is tax. Then we have to pay tax to the town or cities we live in, yearly. Gas tax. Tax on mataining the vehicle. I know someone who had an expired license and couldn't get into the dmv due to covid restrictions. They let their brother borrow their car to go to work in Newport, because his car was getting fixed. She was hit with a fine and would need to go to court to prove that she wasn't driving the car. Our insurance rates are some of the highest in the country.
I am pretty liberal but the fact that cameras are set up to send out tickets is against our rights as an American Citizen.

Cantina del Rio in SK. All the food I’ve tried hasn’t been great but excellent chips and salsa (unlimited and free). The margs are huge, tasty, and get you drunk. Plus it’s on the bike path so you can have lunch then walk it off
