Yeah, the assessment on my place jumped too. I don't think it has anything to do with renos or anything like that because the city of Stamford doesn't have a way of keeping tabs on what people do with their own house. I do wonder if it has something to do with the drove of folks moving here from the city buying property, causing real estate value to go up?

Ridgeway Plaza is not considered downtown, but certainly is within walking distance to many areas. Like most things reasonable distance is subjective. If you are used to being in a city than a reasonable distance to anything is less than 10 minutes by foot, at least by the measures in urban planning.

Mine just went up 33%. Scary. If they don't lower the mill rate with these new assessments I can no longer afford to live here. I really hope the board of finance and mayor take into account the inflated increase in property values we are all seeing when they set the next budget and mill rates. Property values were at an all time high when the assements were done and are slowly now coming down due to higher interest rates. I wish i could appeal but i doubt i would be successful since i cant really contest property values in this market. I highly recommend all home owners email the mayors office and board of finance if possible and express your thoughts and concerns.

Are you talking about the Lofts? I think that's the place I heard kicked all their tenants out for some issue with the building. But yeah it's sad, that area was where I first lived when I moved here. Having a grocery store, and all those shops and restaurants are what made me choose it. It was nice while it lasted. Hopefully something can be done to bring businesses back. I winder if those apartments are losing tenants now that there is less going on around there.
