Thanks for putting the word out on that! I'm not a Shake Shack fan, but I officially moved to PA the first week in October so I could get there in time to vote for Shapiro and Fetterman. Still working in Stamford though, so splitting my time.

It's harder to cross against the light at this intersection because cars will park cost the the crosswalk, blocking sight lines. And people speed on Pacific.

Most of the Ped buttons in Stamford just delay turning arrows. If no one is coming you can Jay walk and if someone is driving, obviously they prioritize keeping car traffic moving more than pedestrian traffic.

Bingo. There are a number of lights on long ridge and high ridge for side streets that are on censors but a couple that will always run. The light on long ridge at the Yale Health center/Terrace Ave is on a timer...it's the last one before the big downhill into the bullhead intersection. It makes sense that they use this one for speed control.

A lot of the lights on long ridge use induction loops and will stay green until they are triggered. By a side road turning onto long ridge. The issue is they will trigger for a single car and last a minimum amount of time. So in a way it’s a combination of both sensors and timers, which isn’t necessarily always ideal b

Wait until you find the 5 way stop with the school crossing guard!

A reminder to everyone that shake shack supports the crazy Christian nationalist Doug Mastriano, who’s running for govt in PA

Just sharing what I heard from a business owner that Bullshead landlord is adding parking by demolishing a house adjacent and that Pepes pulled out. If it's not factual so be it but the source is legit....

Love cider and have brewed my own dry cider before. Now I'm wondering what I have been missing!

I hate it as a pedestrian, the light at Pacific and Henry near my building is seemingly on a timer, and the pedestrian beg button doesn't do anything.

Yep! Tried both and they're decent! I'm a big fan of a dry still cider. The US is just a little bit behind the UK on cider right now. I'm sure in a few years as popularity increases, so will the quality of the cider. Definitely had some nice local made ciders but again, not quite on the level of the big names in the UK

What kind of cider? A dry one or sweet one? Have you tried downeast or citizens?

Honestly it might have a lot to do with how we treat road and traffic infrastructure in the States. This would be a nice way to speed up travel times but I dont think the town of Stamford is gonna be keen on investing the time and resources into this.
The thing I miss the most from the UK (Wales) is the cider. Haven't been able to find a Somerset level pint in years. That and Haribo and Cadburys are cack in the US

With the new Whole Foods and Saks opening I think it's a huge opportunity area for new business. Seems silly to cancel the Frank Pepe when they could get so much traffic.
colin8651 t1_isaf5un wrote
I think they limit the need for traffic speed enforcement with the implementation of ensuring you stop at each light in downtown areas

It would be a big risk for Brennan to start construction without a tenant…

That was a rumor on Nextdoor. I haven’t seen any evidence that Pepe’s won’t be opening. Their permits are still under review according to this article from a few days ago. https://www.stamfordadvocate.com/news/article/Stamford-construction-pepes-shake-shack-17502005.php

Harbor point is filled with turn and burn apartments. They consistently raise rent YoY with no added amenities, and people are starting to wake up to it.
The free trolley that runs through harbor point and also through downtown was supposed to bridge the gap between the awkward distance of downtown night life and their cute area by the water, but I swear I rarely see people riding them.
I feel like harbor point is only nice if you really like walking dogs and paying for overpriced views.

Well. Let me rephrase that - I moved a couple of weeks earlier than I originally planned. I was moving to PA permanently and keeping my job in CT no matter what, was just planning for late October originally.
