Peter Changs! Some of the best chinese food I've ever had, both for authentic Szechuan and americanized dishes.

Live music on weekend evenings too. I was there Saturday, it was PACKED

I like Barcelona, their wine selection is extensive and the food is good too!

Gray Goose Cafe in Southport. Amazing vibes, amazing food.

Olio is fantastic. Cafe Silvium is really good too.

I went to Prime recently and it was great but definitely very expensive.

Chez Vous Bistro is my typical recommendation. Kotobuki is also an intimate spot but maybe not what you're looking for.

Le’escale at the Delamar in Greenwich. It’s not really much more expensive than other restaurants and really nice. Have a wood fire place. Bring cash for tipping valet.

My wife and I love Siena. Legit Italian food, not uptight, great cocktails.

Some nice plates might be Cafe Silvium, Olio and Match in Norwalk.

honestly their house wine is great - kyle the bartender is spectacular and would highly recommend a bar seat because it’s part of the experience. definitely get the prosciutto

She does enjoy that place, but we've been there a handful of times already so I'm not sure it'll feel special/unique enough.

L’Ostal in Darien has the best service of any restaurant I’ve been to in Fairfield County. Absolutely delicious. You can make it as expensive or less expensive as you like (you could both get pasta and the wine by the glass and keep it reasonable or could blow it out and spend hundreds of dollars) Hard to get a reservation. They’re on opentable.

Olio is a great date spot in Springdale.

Everywhere in Stamford is safe. Urby is nice but very expensive. It is roughly equidistant from New Haven and NYC, but just about anywhere in Stamford would be as well. For what it's worth I think you can get a place just as nice for less, but there's nothing wrong with Urby and it's in a pretty stellar location downtown.
