Reply to Looking for an options trading mentor by ByronR02
Hey man - So what exactly is your knowledge of options/trading in general? Are you currently in school studying finance to work in the field, and understand all the factors that impact an option as well as the risk?
Overall, I'd say to just stick with buying solid companies (or Index tracking ETFs) and holding. You're 20 and if you start now with this strategy you can easily build a solid portfolio over the next 10 years using some dollar cost averaging and reinvesting dividends. If you're hell bent on options, you can always do some covered calls if you're trading a name. Besides that I'd stay away from the WSB type trading. Options can make you money quick, and can lose all your money quicker. I've been working in the HF space for 7 years now since leaving school and I can tell you the way these traders understand derivatives and markets vs your average joe is night and day. Feel free to PM me to talk more on it.

Free advice: put that money in a low-fee index fund that is broadly invested in the market and don't touch it. Vanguard, Schwab, Fidelity are all good choices. If you start now then you can be quite wealthy later in life. If you have retirement benefits through work, then definitely do whatever you need to do to maximize them (e.g. put in what gets you the highest matching).
Very few people beat the market when it comes to options trading and other types of "active" investing. You will probably lose money. Everyone thinks they will be in the very few.

They are weird about allowing dogs in the courtyard, though. And if you get a puppy or a reactive dog then the traffic, which is pretty loud just outside the building, may scare them.

You should have bought it for $290 and gut reno'ed it yourself for $100. Would've been a steal.

I go to the Stamford LA Fitness. Most people just have their headphones on and dont say a word to each other. Even the pick up basketball games there are silent. Join one of the coed sports leagues.

Nine Ball Cafe and Rack N Roll were the same place, just under different ownership. Unfortunately it's been closed for years. Your best bet is the place the other commenter mentioned in White Plains.
If you really want Stamford, the only place I'm aware of that has more than 2 tables and isn't a private club is El Rocoto. It's a restaurant attached to the motel off exit 9. 3 tables, cheaper than some other bars, and pretty good food. Down the street from them is La Vista Bistro. They only have 2 tables, but they're also a little cheaper than some other bars. My last suggestion would be Twin Rinks. There's a bar upstairs with 2 tables that they keep in really good condition and there's not usually people playing on them.
If you have any questions you're welcome to DM me. I play in the Stamford 8 ball league so I know the pool options.

There’s a place in White Plains like that. Just checked it’s now called Hard luck.
It’s not in Stamford but it’s close enough.

You can pretty much just apply for one online without any requirements. It was a helpful tip! Especially considering most large dogs are better in apartments than little yappy dogs.

Wrong city. This place sucks. There are no pets allowed in rentals, no storage space in rentals, no parking for rentals unless you’re in an upscale complex, horrible traffic, bad food, high prices for the bad food, nothing is walkable unless you live directly down town, it’s fucking freezing, there is nothing good about stamford, reconsider before it’s too late.

I see, I didn't realize the diagnosis was actually a requirement, I was under the impression when I got my ESA that it was simply a matter of professional judgement as to the efficacy rather than a prescription. I certainly do not want to encourage faking a disability, you're preaching to the choir on that one!

You need to be diagnosed by a mental health professional as having a condition which requires the animal. If you don't have a mental health condition (which there is no indication OP has), you are faking a disability to save money, and making it harder for people with actual serious problems to be taken seriously.

There is a difference between an ESA and a service animal, you do not need to fake a disability to have an ESA.

I have no idea whether Op has a disability, just giving them a suggestion on ways to get past the pet rules at most apartments.

Do you have a reason to think OP has a disability, or are you suggesting they fake a disability to save some money?
