When I moved into my place I discovered a leak on the second floor and the roofing company told me I needed a whole new roof, around 20k. I was crying!

Then I called the original contractor that renovated my house and he agreed to put down a light weight, white reflective layer of tar for $1400. He said it would last 15yrs so needless to say that's what I went with and haven't had a problem since then, I've been in my house for 5 yrs.

I really hope I never have to deal with replacing a roof.

It’s a tough call. Most riders wouldn’t be interested but it would be a shame to leave behind the handful that are into racing legitimately. I would hate to waste the opportunity to teach a teen who may be interested in excavation, motor building/ mechanics, racing or the a/v component of documenting races. So many positive skills can be learned from this type of atmosphere

It's reliable. Just don't be the guy running towards the train at 10:44 pm.

If you do miss the train, the Northeast Regional sometimes runs an Amtrak or two. Bit more expensive, but it'll get you home.

live in my house long enough that both sofas I've bought were delivered through the front window. I'm lucky to have newer windows that are easy to pop out.

Just bought 2nd washer dryer and luckily delivered through a rear bulkhead into the basement and the Home Depot guys doing the delivery didn't bat an eye at doing this.

RHouse is my go-to for this kind of environment. Tons of space, lots of food options, good wifi, and given the amount of space you're unlikely to be taking a seat from a better paying customer.

You know people used to move across the country for employment, right?

Hell, I work with a shitload of people who have moved half way around the world for better employment.

People are clever: they can figure shit like that out when they need to.

It's impossible to "just pay people more". That creates a wage and price spiral that wipes out the gains from increased pay.

The option exists to convince employers to lower their margins, but that requires completely rewiring our entire economic system. That's never turned out well.

Capitalism: it's the worst economic system except for all the others.
