At least somewhat walkable is pretty important... there are lots of towns that would otherwise be great, but likely not within my budget (Newton, Arlington, Wellesley, etc)

OP, good luck on your search. I've been looking for the same and would love to know what you find. I've asked around a lil bit and been told Redemption Tattoo in Cambridge, but haven't made it in yet myself.

not surprised at all. I went on a jog on st Patty's and I bumped shoulders lightly on accident with a few groups of drunk dudes since they were taking up the entire sidewalk. one group started chasing me and screaming "get that ch**k (asian slur)" and another guy grabbed my shoulder and pulled me back and tried to grab my head. I was able to get away in both these situations but I imagine if I didn't they would've gotten violent too.

Fair enough - and I agree with you. I think most local tattoo artists would lean in your political direction.

I think the downvotes are coming from your phrasing. It partly comes off as cringe, sorry to say.

Anyways, good luck to you. Every artist at that shop is incredibly sincere, you should find what you’re looking for there.

How negotiable is the walkable part? Does this matter more to you than the housing component? Areas that are primarily single family are going to be more suburby and spread out and inherently less walkable.

If I needed to live within 45 minutes of Milford and south of the city, in a place with a strong public school, Canton is probably near the top of my list.

Canton and Norwood seem to check your boxes for having walkable areas, easy commutes to Boston, within 45 minutes of Milford, and don't require going through Boston to get to the Cape. Idk what their schools are like or if you can find housing that meets your needs for under $1 million, but it's somewhere to start looking at least

Safety isn't a concern, it's more how long you want to spend walking - plenty of people have no problem walking an hour from downtown back to Central Square after the bars close, if it's a nice enough night.

One mile is usually the cutoff where it's not particularly reasonable, so either you commit to somewhat unreasonable but doable walking, or you get a bike. Definitely don't need a car for a 1.5 mile commute.

I was a tattoo with an anticapitalist meaning only. under our current economic conditions a truly “anticapitalist” tattoo would be very hard to achieve. I fundamentally don’t believe there is ethical consumption under late stage capitalism. Yes, I can resist it, but I cannot abstain from all acts of capitalism if I want to be a part of my community.

I will wait months, the best tattoos come from highly sought artists.

To give you a real answer.. Pearl Street Tattoo - really open, supportive & non-judgemental space and should be up your alley. However, they tend to book months in advance.
As for as anti-capitalism, you do realize you'll be paying them for a service in currency? I don't think anyone would barter for a tattoo. If you want a true anticapitalist tattoo, you'd need it done for free at someone's house lol.

Anyways, I'd actually be shocked if there was a neonazi tattoo spot in Boston, considering how difficult it is to run a parlor here compared to say.. New Hampshire. Like, tattooing only became legal here in 2001.

I thought the focus here was on rowdy teens, and unprovoked attacks? But if you want to pivot to drug dealing, we can....

Let me ask you something, what do you believe will happen if the police arrested all those drug dealers by Chinatown Station and the blue bikes? How long do you believe the dealers will be held for? Do you believe the people buying drugs from those dealers will cease buying drugs?

Even if the police did a big sweep and arrested all the dealers around Chinatown Station (which is not as simple as it sounds, typically the police have to conduct multiple undercover purchases or they have to witness a hand-to-hand transaction come up with reasonable suspicion to stop the individual who just bought the dope, then come up with PC to search their pockets, recover the drugs, then track down the dealer who sold to them... it's not that simple, you got to remember people have rights, and if the police don't follow procedure all the charges will be dropped at arraignment) ..... So let's pretend BPD did a big sweep.... 90% of those street levels dealers will be back on the street the same day, or within a few days if they have outstanding warrants that needed to be cleared up/resolved in court....

So the users will still be on the streets seeking drugs, most if not all the dealers will be back, and those dealers who are still held will simply be replaced by new kids looking to make some quick money.....The best case scenario seems to be that the dealers may move from Chinatown over to a different corner, and then when that corner gets too hot, they will move on to a new one, and eventually will end up back at the Chinatown spot... that's how this shit works.... it's called the balloon effect...

The problem is our drug laws.... We need to just accept reality, and start allowing legal sanctioned organizations to provide clean/tested drugs to users for free/cheap, that's the only way we can begin to start restoring order, and take power away from the unregulated and violent blackmarket...
