Try going to account settings - privacy and online safety - xbox live privacy- customise - communication and multiplay and just check if everything is enabled

I had this and it stopped me playing a cash cup until I figured it out. Quit Fortnite, turn off the Xbox, turn off the wifi (depends if ur wired or not), put the Wi-Fi back on again, and turn on your xbox

yeah I can't play fortnite with crossplay off it says currently disabled when I have it off so makes me have to put it on which I hate playing against pc players why I've always had it off and never had this message before

Yh I don’t get that message I personally think it might be an actual system setting if all your game settings are fine

So you haven’t ever changed you multiplayer setting? If so it has to be a game setting, are you still experiencing the issue?

I can switch is on and off freely without issue you’re probably getting this message because of the online multiplayer settings you have on your actual xbox not the game.

yes I can put it to on ive no issues getting a game then but never had issues with it been off too when I go online at night been fine for 2 years with it off
