We grew up with it so the nostalgia will definitely hit, but I know he would use it a couple of of times and then get bored. I could pay $200 for an N64 but it wouldn't have the same effect as when we were kids, sadly.

Have a look at Nintendo's Game and Watch line. Relatively cheap, no WiFi , Zelda or Mario. Or like others say grab an old Gameboy Advance

I did that and then I kept my ps4 for Exclusives, I’ll probably pick up a ps5 at some point but it was worth it

Those are normal choice BUT i would recommend something totally different 😊

There is company called Anbernic. They have a lot of different types of handhelds loaded with emulators. They even come with SD card (if you chose options) with tons of games so you don't have to get ROMs somwhere. You just have to search for model without WiFi. I can recommend a YT channel Retro Game Corps. I think he reviewed all of them and more.

Couldn't you just put your Nintendo Switch/3ds/ds or whatever in airplane mode? If not, then i guess a gba should be your best option
