Better controller? That is entirely your preference and not a fact. I cannot play on a ps5 for more than 45 min before my thumbs cramp and hurt. I could play Xbox all day. And a side note, I have no experience here with the mic, but the xbox Kinect having a mic was the absolute worse. You’d get on a match and here 5 different peoples whole house. The controller is probably better, but I only see a disaster. Xbox controllers you can plug a $5 headphone in and use.

I’ve been playing Xbox for 20 something years now and never struggle to find games. I can still even find battlefield 1 games easily. Player base is perfectly fine. Especially on the games you mentioned.

If you feel like you need to play those games then ps5 is the choice for you.

Can PlayStations just randomly change regions? I’m honestly not sure about that.

Elden ring is waaaaaaaaaaay more bearable.
Only difference is ... I can't finish a single sentence when I get in the lozing zone, but it just comes down to not being trigger happy.

The open world nature of it is awesome, and most importantly, it's now patched to hell, so less exploits, more stability and Coop is so much fun.

Bethesda made Skyrim and the series, they have another series called fallout which is basically the same mechanics but post apocalyptic instead of fantasy. Some great games, and number 4 has mods on Xbox.

Outer worlds is basically fallout by another company (the studio actually made one of the fallout games, new Vegas, which is by many considered the best).

Oblivion is more standard RPG than Skyrim and can be more complex, but it's a fantastic game.

Gamepass is incredible, of you get gamepass ultimate you also have gold (play online, 2 free games a month) and EA access for EA games. Best part is they own Bethesda so fallout and elder scrolls (Skyrim) games are all available with gamepass for no extra charge. Their new upcoming space game will be available day 1 as well.

Enjoy!

No mods on switch! Oblivion looks pretty badass I'll check that out too. As for the other games you recommended Ive never heard of any of them so thanks for introducing me to some new stuff - really appreciate the recommendations !! And wowww what the gamepass idea is so cool - actually didnt know that existed so thanks for tuning me into that too!

Does switch Skyrim have mods? If not, Xbox Skyrim with mods will open up sooooo much. Plus there's the previous TES games like Oblivion and Morrowind playable through backcompat (oblivion is great, morrowind is very different so may not be enjoyed as much).

Depending on why you liked Skyrim you'll also have other Bethesda games (fallout mainly ATM), Outer Worlds, maybe Kingdoms of Amalur.

Dragon age combat is very different so if that and open world are all you want maybe not the series for you (personally love them but not analogous to Skyrim in those ways).

The Mordor games are great, very different combat/gameplay but fantastic games.

Overall I'd say you'll likely find things you enjoy, and gamepass makes it very easy and cheap to do so.

Yeah if you were just sending it along out of the goodness of your heart because they want one that would be awfully kind and generous! But you're getting yourself a newer better console and calling it a gift giving the old one away lol 🤷🏻‍♂️ I'll take my downvotes but it's a bit tacky when it's really all about you haha.

So in regards to the playerbase, check the specific games but a lot (maybe most?) Multiplayer games are cross plat now so the playerbase would be the same.

I know Forsaken is a timed exclusive (though I think it's a long time, maybe 2 years?) And GoW is I think on PC? PlayStation is great for exclusives, but with how much you have invested in Xbox it's hard for me to think the games would justify the switch.

Also, the PS5 is I believe larger than the XSX, so maybe relevant for putting it in your carry on?

I own all the darksouls... and never finished a single one.... and sucked at them too. lol

I really only Enjoyed elden ring.

If you can Skyrim through backwards compatibility on xbox, it should be pretty sweet.
Or I suppose if there is some kind of upgraded version from the previous gen like xbox one... that runs on the newer hardware.

Its a pretty solid vanilla experience. (not a bad thing either)

Maybe you might like Fallout, Dragonage, kingdom come deliverance, dragon's dogma, GREED FALL, ..... maybe middle earth showdow of war,..... maybe try out the whole main series of darksiers, darksiders 2 and darksiders 3.

It definitely is got one for Christmas and couldn't recommend it enough I already had a big steam library but since steam games are so cheap, game pass and emulation you literally get spoiled for choice in terms of what to play, it's just niche to everyone outside pc gamers
