Ooooh good question. I would like to see an improvement in the gameclips recording department. It's just so clunky right now, and it needs options to make our own videos from game content, like we used to have with the game clips editor we had, but they removed it ages ago. I want this.

Exactly, it doesn't seem like that at all. On the contrary, there were comments from companies that they will not make any upgrades or half-gen in this generation.

The current gen machines are very powerful, the only people saying otherwise are PC gamers with too much money, after they spent a car's worth on a GPU. Sure it's possible to make a better PC, it's always possible, but there is the cost for that. Because of this cost the high powered PCs are going to be a slim minority, not really worth mentioning in normal conversation. The reality is the vast majority of PC playerbase have nowhere near as powerful computers as the current gen consoles. In fact many don't even match the last gen, and have to play in low res or low detail modes.

There is absolutely no reason for more powerful consoles at this moment in time.

Honestly, I had my fill of building pcs back in the day. Could not be arsed with them now. Happy with consoles.

I'm not disagreeing that the question is asked too much, but I will point out that being a "gamer" is not a prerequisite to buying a console. Maybe they're interested in trying videogames for their first time (at least playing seriously). Maybe it's as a surprise present for someone else. That's getting into the realm of gatekeeping, which is the worst type of hobbyist. Why was the Wii such a massive success? Because it managed to appeal to people who would not even remotely identify as "gamers," and the Wii was a fantastic console.

I get it, I'm super passionate and have a lot of interests myself, but everyone starts somewhere, both in terms of knowledge as well as product. In addition to gaming, I'm into audio and watches, and seeing people trying to get interested in hobbies just sucks.

I think this touches on a bigger Reddit problem where people will just post basic questions without trying to do any research whatsoever (forget Reddit-specific research, I mean research period). I do agree that that is frustrating and is a mindset/behavior that should be discouraged in-general.

If you are willing to wait, I think that the XSX and PS5 are definitely superior and worth every penny. That being said, if you’re on a budget and wanting to get a taste of next gen, the XSS is really good too! I had one for awhile before getting my X. For a small performance loss, you get to play every next gen game this generation without spending $500+.

PS exclusives are something to think about though too, just kind of depends which ecosystem you are more interested in! Both are legendary.

What do you have now? Do you already have a PS5? If so, a XSS is a nice little console to go alongside it. I have both a XSX and PS5 and each of them get used almost all of the time.

For me, this is the first generation where I genuinely felt like I needed to be in both ecosystems — PS for exclusive games and unique features, and Xbox for backwards compatibility and Halo.

I like both. But Switch does have the added feature of being playable while mobile, or on a TV/PC. So if you ever wanted to game while on the road -- if you aren't the one driving, lol -- then that's always handy. It is called "Switch" for a reason, and I give props to the developers for such a unique idea.

The only other thing you'd want after that is a charging dock for the controller(s).

You're not going to make a decision based on any amount of answers on this post though surely. I mean, unless the votes are all in favour of one console. They should be tbh, for the xbox, all day long, but still.
