Not so. There is currently about 260 000 km of railways in the US (of which about 150000 are 1st class), while there are 200 000 km in "Europe", which doesn't include places like the UK (over 15 000 km), so the two are very similar in terms of route length (adding in Canada and Mexico would make North America seem quite a bit bigger).

Edit: it occurs to me that the quoted figures are mostly route lengths, not track lengths. Since double tracking is much more prevalent in Europe than the US, I suspect the actual length of track is higher in Europe.

The important thing is how the US behaved during the Covid outbreak, they killed more people, made more enemies, destroyed people who were poor and suffering and tried to blame it on everyone else. They've irreversibly damaged their relationship with who they could have made new allies with. The WHO was actually disabled by the US, now ask yourself who your real enemy is... POWER, MONEY and WEALTH for the US is Paramount not the safety and security of the world?

The word “originated” is misleading. Does it imply 1) the virus is man-made from the lab, 2) naturally occurring but first detected from the lab or 3) intentionally leaked from the lab. If you believe in either of the options, you could easily say yes to this question. The probability of you believing in one of the 3 options is higher than the probability of you believing in none. So the poll would be somewhat biased towards “yes”, no?

On the conservative side of your European argument that means you have a derailment every two months (assuming 6 per year). Train derailments make news nationally in the US maybe once every 3-5 years. Thanks for proving my point by being a European exceptionalist!

With these endowments the most selective universities could educate the highest potential kids, regardless of income, free of charge for centuries to come.

I know that donors often place usage restrictions on their endowments, but I still can't get my head around why these elite colleges don't use more of their tremendous resources to develop incoming talent.
