You could argue the large number of opioid drug overdoses in the US is largely due to failures in the healthcare system (overprescribing, lack of training / understanding around the function of opioids)

I'm loving this show and just started season 3. I was very worried when I saw this was the last season. I'm happy to see the consensus was that it ended well.

It’s very funny Americans and American politicians are sometimes suspicious that Mexico is plotting to ‘retake Texas’ when the reality is that north Mexico is slowly morphing into south Texas, not the other way around.

Thank you omg. People seem to think life expectancy directly measured the efficacy of a country’s healthcare system, and while that’s certainly a part of it, it’s not the full story. Car crashes, fried foods that cause heart disease, overdoses, homicides, suicides, etc all play info life expectancy. You could have the best hospitals and doctors in the world, but if your citizens are constantly getting into car accidents or eating unhealthy diets their entire lives, it’s still going to drag down your life expectancy.

I guess it’s $780 billion in 2022 for total US to Mexico trade. Makes more sense now.

About $3 billion total imports and exports between Mexico and Iowa. Makes sense. Iowa is smaller and further. Iowa’s GDP is 1/6th of Mexico’s.

The trade percentages haven't changed much since we went from NAFTA to USMCA

So Mexico doesn’t trade with Iowa, for example?

Nope. Texas exports to Mexico include oil and gas, chemicals, nuclear reactors, iron, steel, plastics, and copper. Mexico’s exports to Texas include nuclear reactors, plastics, oil and gas, furniture, fruit, and nuts. Both are over $100 billion in each direction.
Texas’ GDP is 45% more than Mexico’s, so it’s not unreasonable for two neighbors to have so much trade.

My kids' scout program used to use Paypal for payments but they cracked down on the free friends and family option and now prefer checks to avoid the service fees on collecting money.

No north as is Colorado River. About 1/3 Southern California water supply comes from Colorado River Aqueduct. Northern Cali might not be as reliant on Colorado.
