Odd. You mention how a bank failure hurts everyone yet admit to actively contributing to the problem.

tink tink BOOM

Honestly, this would look way better plotted as assets value vs. time. No one cares how many banks fail, just how much damage was done in real terms. The number of failures is extraneous and makes the chart look unnecessarily complicated. Simple is (almost) always better.

This info is leaning hard on the "assume that it will someday exist", it's pretty misleading on first and second glance. I know you probably didn't design the survey, but this attitude towards GAI should really be presented through a more neutral question.

Narrator: “It was in fact incredibly bad, and created dystopia on Earth”.

146,000 are in for drug offenses. Not including local jails.

My first thought is that it would be hard to control for that many trials. The bike hitting the ground repeatedly would take a toll.

Well according to this map, much of those south eastern states have low income and high inequality. What does that really mean in terms of people though? Does that mean there are lots of white and black people that are similarly poor and a relatively small proportion of very wealth people living in the state (with not as many people in between)?

You people have nothing under control 🤣

Hey, I read this paper! IIRC, the paths we’re seeing here are from a simulated bicycle controlled by a very simple artificial neural network. This doesn’t necessarily reflect the real world.

I’d love to see these same bars laid out against a scale where the left end of each line starts at the point representing the median house price in each market.

The issue is food and heating/cooling/power. Most people can't just sit at home, they need to buy these things or get them. If there is an organization that could provide these things for a sustained period of time, then maybe that kind of thing would work.

Particularly relevant in light of the recent scientific report.
Interestingly, there aren't that many climate deniers anymore, even in the U.S., a hotbed of denial.
Most of us are either alarmed or concerned about climate change, yet most aren't taking the necessary steps to solve the problem -- the most common reason is that no one asked. This is so fixable, and we even know how.
