New to the area, so apologies. But I’d appreciate if you answer in addition to just correcting my terminology.

Not every area includes school taxes within their property taxes, so this is a little misleading.

We do but stealing happens in every city. We are hardly unique for it, at least not among other cities of our size or larger. Porch piracy for example even happens in suburban towns let alone cities.
Tho generally that does mean I wouldn't give us an A. But I would say even petty crime wise we are doing better.

Probably has to do with the owner/chef currently being a Federal Judge?

You cannot compare just property taxes when comparing states. You need to look at 'total tax burden'. Some places use heavy sales and excise taxes instead of RE taxes, and it ends up very regressive. Note the difference between FL, always touted as low tax, & NJ is only 4%. But if you're wealthy, it goes up a lot because of no income tax.

When it’s 90 degrees outside no one wants to stand in a asphalt parking lot

I lived around the corner when this place opened, and it was magic in those early years when Domenic Santana was running it. Really brought a blast of needed energy to Grove Street.
Happy to have those memories.

Look man, I live here too. It's just too long to write Bergen-Lafayette out every time. Also, I usually have to rely on spell check for the second half, so BeLa works fine for me.

It won't turn it into a SoDoSoPa.

maybe petty theft/non-violent crime? we do have an issue with stealing here but I agree with violent crime point. It's not like we read an article every day of someone being killed, mugged, etc.

If anyone lived in Astoria, Queens in the mid-aughts, you remember "Lloyd Five Fingers," who'd go car to car on the N train asking for donations for his basketball team. "If you don't have change, try and have a smile."

The retail & especially the food stalls at Harborside is more of a marketing expense/claimed amenity for the developer, less of an actual place to visit

Yep! Well aware. I didn’t say Alabama has the lowest literacy rate. I actually specifically stated they’re bottom 10 or bottom 7.
