I dont think this is true. Your reference was posted in 2015, so thats why you wouldn't have any of the newer buildings. But jersey city has been granting abatements since then and many run for decades from now. Examples below:

https://patch.com/new-jersey/jersey-city/jersey-city-ends-tax-abatement-after-urban-renewal-project-stalls

(A 2022 construction project loses its previously-granted 20 year abatement after inactivity)

(Tax abatement until 2040 for Crystal Point)

https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/924901/000156276222000205/R35.htm

(The new Haus25 has an abatement until 2047)

I just should also say, Hudson Hound's cocktails are beautiful. Well-executed pieces of art. The Lady Lavender in particular is delicious, but also exquisitely photo-worthy. If that factors into your first date logic, let it be known.

On the other hand, the best thing on their menu is the adobo wings, and nobody has ever suggested that I look attractive while eating wings. "What is wrong with you?" is a more common comment than "you look cute."

Uhh. . . I don't usually chime in to be negative, unless it's about Paul Fireman or Amy DeGise, but I don't like their food. Maybe we've always gone at off times, but it's always been bland, over-cooked, and unimaginative to start with.

I would say Hamilton Pork. Or closer to that area, Hudson Hound, which has excellent cocktails. Their food menu is limited but well-executed, so look at it beforehand and see if there's anything that interests you.

My brother is the best in the city! He works off communipaw near the Lightrail as LSP, the garage burned down but he’s still hustling and working hard, guarantee it’ll be cheaper than any of the others, AND you’ll have the added benefit of helping to repair the garage and replace lost equipment, all for a good price!

Omar's Discount Tire and Auto Repair in Union City (just over the edge of the JC Heights border) has been pretty straight-up with me over the years. Despite the name they do more than tires. Great Yelp reviews, which is what made me go there in the first place (and seemed pretty unusual for car mechanics around here!). They've always been very straight-up about costs, very straight-up about what they can and can't do, very good about giving advice on things (including in way that doesn't make them money in the short term). You can call them and a real human will answer the phone and answer questions. Only downside (for me, YMMV) is they always keep Fox News blasting in the little office (sigh). We use them for anything that we don't want to take to the dealer (oil changes, tires, checking out potential problems, etc.) because the dealer always charges an arm and a leg even if they don't do anything.
