Also I forgot to add, I kinda just assumed you were a man because of the dumb internet stereotype. But if you're a woman that may change whether you want to live in Lowell or not. The city has cleaned up a bit but it's nowhere near as safe as the surrounding suburban towns. I know many women in the area would not feel safe wandering around Lowell after dark by themselves. But it's really dependent on you, statistically the crime is around the US average, but some people worry about crime more than others.

Lots of options and it def depends on the environment you want as a backdrop, but imo consider: Salem, Plum Island, Halibut Point, almost anywhere in Rockport/Gloucester area, but if you like the rocky coast/lobster fishing village thing check out Lanes Cove (morning is best for low winds and calm seas… and great sunrise obviously), castle hill/Crane estate, Stone tower in Lynn woods, and/or if you have a professional local photog ask them as well. They’ll def have some ideas likely with sample shots of other couples and will know the best times/conditions to hit each spot.

Avoid Centralville and The Acre, they're fine for passing through in the day and a lot of the crime is drug or gang related. But you probably don't want to live there, and you can avoid them at night to be safe.

Appleton St downtown has some shady characters.

Upper Highlands and Belvidere are the nicest neighborhoods of Lowell.

Hi! Hi! HI!

Mom of a trans kid here. It’s amazing for trans people and trans kids. You will run into random bigots of course, because it’s not a utopia. But consider this: our trans protections came under a Republican Governor who supported it.

We do not fuck around with human rights here. And we will always have a dem legislature who will protect our people. And I’m in the burbs.

My kid is safe. The schools make it safe for them. I could ask for very little more.

If you feel so strongly about this then write to the governor. Write to your local leaders. Write to anyone who’ll listen.

In my honest opinion, USS Massachusetts isn’t in bad enough condition yet to warrant any sort of major spending. Her paint looks fine, her deck is worse for wear but what else is new on any of the museum ships with wood decks, she’s missing quite a few pieces but those aren’t likely to be returned anytime soon and fabricating them is difficult. Sure she likely has quite a few leaks in the superstructure but pretty much all the museum ships have those and no amount of money will ever stop them permanently. If anything at Battleship Cove needs money it’s the USS Lionfish. Her deck was so rusted out I felt like I was gonna walk through it onto the hull. The hull also looks terrible I wouldn’t be surprised if she does have leaks below the waterline.
