That is nuts..I live 5 minutes up the street from the Worcester spot. They tore the entire mall down and built this eyesore to now not use it…someone needs to look into this. There is some widespread shadyness going on.

Just a quick update.

I went to the RMV this morning. Very nice desk person. But. No appointment. No license renewal.

I was referred to the help number. After 3 minutes of recorded messages I was able to connect to the license line. While on hold it played - "Representatives will not be able to assist you in making a license appointment." hmmm..

It's just weird to think that since I'm going to need my car I'm going to be breaking the law in a day or so. I keep thinking. This is not like a fishing license. Yes. Of course, to those that will point out that I had plenty of time if I had paid attention. Yes. It's my fault.

I see where the advantages are in this for the staff. No chaos at the RMV. The one I went to was quiet and organized. It felt like a well run doctor where you get there and don't have to wait for 2 hrs. That's all good.

Still - I'm thinking. Official policy is no same day service. And... I need my car. So I drive illegally and if I get pulled over it's up to the police to let it go or charge me. They could at least officially say that if you have a scheduled appointment you will be issued a warning.

This situation just doesn't seem right to me

I have heard conflicting information about people cancelling appointments so that they come available. I'll give that a shot.

This is going to be the last I comment on this.

Thanks for all the feedback.

We unfortunately didn't get any response from state politicians but based on the feedback we've been getting from this article I'm sure there will be a follow up story (or several follow up stories).

Thanks for your feedback. This is super helpful! I'll be sure to share your questions with our newsroom when pitching specific angles for our next EV piece.

We also just launched our NH bureau today and they're looking for stories to cover so I'll put this on their radar.

There's nothing that is an exact equivalent imo-- I'm further east than you, but definitely still in western Mass and my personal tendency is to use alldi for everything I can use it for, and big y for everything else.

Honestly, when I was younger, I remember liking stop& shop a lot, but now I feel like only things I don't use are on sale.

The worst part is that Worcester shut down a mixed used building project in the Greendale plaza for that stupid warehouse. Basically everyone was calling it out on the local sub that we didn't need any more Amazon locations, but the city let them start the project anyway. It was always going to be a shit location for all that extra traffic, too, which is why the Greendale Mall was never very good to begin with.

According to this article from 2020 Northbridge Partners is leasing it to Amazon. As far as I know it is still empty, but Revere hasn't really offered any tax incentives to have them there.
