this is the way, make sure the home checks some boxes for when you go to sell "decent schools, close to commuter roads/rails, decent garage" and youll make your money back.

Agreed. The northern part of Fall River east of Highland Avenue around Bristol Community College is ok.

The neighborhood up the hill in NE Fall River is pretty nice. Most of the towns within 30-40 minutes should be fine. If you want more urban living outside of Fall River that's not a town, you might like parts of New Bedford, and the Providence metro is nearby.

I live pretty close to Fall River and I don’t really think it’s that bad, I used to go there a lot for work and I’ve had family that lived there, it’s like any small city, there’s going to be some type of sketchiness. If your looking to rent an apartment, I would personally be looking at East Providence, Pawtucket or Taunton, but the sketchiness level will be on par with Fall River. Pretty much anything surrounding Fall River is going to be a suburb and apartments will be hard to find. I would stay away from New Bedford though the sketchiness goes up a notch there. Swansea, Somerset, Dartmouth, Falmouth, Seekonk and Rehoboth are all nice but apartments will be limited and houses are crazy money. Don’t forget that you won’t be too far from Rhode Island so check that out too.

Fall River is pretty small. There are lots of nice towns in the area. Most of these towns are rural to suburban. Dighton, Berkley, Somerset and Freetown come to mind.

Next to Amazon fresh (or whatever will end up there) in Leominster. There are the Ulta “orange awnings” next door. I also want to say the mayor mentioned it on his Facebook page that an Ulta would be going in there too. I think that’s where pier 1 was back in the day.

but most of us get no daylight during the winter since people generally don’t wake up at 4am.

wait you guys want to stay in winter time mode all the time?

I drive it everyday for work, so I only know about the hours of 7am and 4/4:30pm.
At 7am the 5 minute drive after dropping my child off took me 29 minutes at the quickest and an hour and 10 minutes at the longest (so far) just to get to the bridge.
When I leave work it's fine until I reach the 2 miles to Scusset Beach sign and then I'm in traffic for 40ish minutes or more.
I started doing my child off at 7 instead of bringing them to school at 8am because it took me two hours to get to work that day.
I have coworkers that come the Bourne Bridge way and they said it's no better. It took one of them 2 hours from Easton the other day.
Good luck. I suggest picking out podcasts now just for that 1-2 miles before the bridge. You'll be able to finish them in one sitting.

No. Get back on Standard Time (sun basically at high noon) and stay there. This will also provide many more benefits. Save Standard Time list of benefits
It’s the same light every year—it’s never been a surprise. 9-hours of daylight in Winter (solstice), 12-hours in Spring & Autumnal (Equinox), and 15-hours is daylight in the Summer (solstice). Nobody is ‘making more sunlight’.
"Time ‘Change’: only a fool would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom of a blanket and have a longer blanket.”

We need to fall back to standard time and stay there. DST sucks, and now it's useless. Plus who the hell wants sunrise at 930 in the winter time?! Nope! This was tried in the 70's it didn't work then, and even scientists agree standard time is better than DST.

It does depend on where you live.
Personally I was spending about $8 for a medium iced coffee, hash browns, and a bacon egg and cheese on a bagel.
