Arlington is a funny town, they were also "dry" until a few years ago. Maybe it is conflict between some townies who want no change and newer people.
I don't usually buy gas in Arlington (though I have some family there), but I used to go through Milford a lot when they were no-self-serve, and the gas was always more than surrounding towns. OTOH I drive through Maynard some, and the cheapest gas there is the only full-serve station, so I don't know.

I live in Weymouth and love the full service gas stations. Why do people prefer self service over full service? Genuine question btw.

Yes please. My father is dying of dementia rn. His healthy hulk of a body is taking its sweet time shutting down, but he's in pain, confused, sad. He barely even wakes up anymore but when he does it's to gasp in pain. I can't do anything for him, but I do not want to go through it myself when my time comes.

Some places are just full service stations. It’s not illegal they just pump for you at select ones

You’re absolutely right. I’m not saying the legislature should respond that way, but the way things work is that the legislature writes the laws that tell the auditor what authority the position has and doesn’t have. Usually the executive branch can have oversight from the legislative branch, not the other way around.
What I haven’t yet found, which could change my opinion entirely, is the law providing for the powers of the state auditor. If the legislature gave the auditor power to audit them then case closed for the auditor. If not, then the speaker is right.

If your mom gave you a piece of furniture you'd be perfectly in your rights to destroy it. Even as an egregious false equivalency this doesn't work.

I disagree. We want people to do this only as a final measure and as a last resort. We don't want people to do this because they are financially pressured. That is not what this bill is for.

The main street there? Down the road from the 99?
I just pumped my own gas like 6 times before I realized I wasn't supposed to.

But there have also been people with disabilities who want to exit and because they can’t do the deed themselves are forced to continue. How can we make it fair for everyone?

Maybe it’s a reasonable choice. They’re dying anyway. They’re certainly not comfortable. And they don’t want to add to family burden. I’d take the $50 option.
