What about our lakes and rivers and food supplies?? Our fish are full of them too and so is pretty much everything else that we eat. PFAS should be banned.

That would make sense if it was like 2-3 inches, not 7.

Thank you for the detail about the sandwich, it sounds lovely. I’ve not thought about adding 1000 island to a grilled cheese, but might just try that for lunch today.

I don’t care if it takes “hundreds of billions of dollars” to meet these standards, there is excuse for the richest country in the world to not have perfect drinking water. I’m not even a big gov spender person but clean drinking water is basically the most essential thing humans need.

I swear at this point there's only 2 seasons. "slightly chilly with a chance of a two-footer" from October-March and "swamp season" from April to September

It’s responsible gun ownership to stay familiar with your gun. Along with that things like muscle memory or just practicing benefit from regular target practice. More people should be doing target practice more often but it’s so hard with the lack of available places

If you haven’t already seen it, this is probably the coolest YouTube video that explains the ‘magic’.
Veritasium: The Big Misconception About Electricity
Edit: also the follow up video is great as well.

I agree with you, but most in this thread imagine that improvement is just too hard and we should just accept things as they are and let our corporate overlords bask in their wealth while we just we accept days and days without power every winter.

I have one of those shovels with a springy handle half way up. It was pretty handy for the walk way. We are still working on finding a plow for the driveway. Our regular plow guy killed his truck in the storm. It's been just at or above freezing up until now so the ice hasn't set in just yet.

The only thing that will help would be a 200Kt thermonuke, and that might be a problem for your house and garage. On the other hand, after the EMP surge, you wouldn't need to worry about Eversource restoring power to your electronics. 😵💫
Good God. Presumably with the dropping temps, that's all turned to ice. Maybe one of those propane flamethrowers? Do they still make those?
My back is sore just from shoveling 4" of that stuff off my 80' walkway.
Having good luck with one of those metal dirt shovels, long 6' wood handle, with a flat blade and flat (sharp) edge. Blade is small, which is good. I think it belonged to my grandfather 🤣.
Regular snow shovels are useless PoS. They're all designed for the kind of snow we haven't seen these past 4-5 years.
