"Officers returned to Loud’s home to further question her. They noticed the unclean condition of the home. Loud later told officers she had not cleaned in 10 years, according to the police report.

Asked if she had been drinking, Loud said she stopped off after work and drank a few beers before coming home to watch baseball. She said she might have had some hard lemonade at home."

There's no indication, at least in this article, that she drove at all. She simply said she came home. Those sorts of technicalities are huge in courts. To your point, you're absolutely right in that alcohol and its resulting effects take time, so any testing done (especially when they came back to her house a second time) should have absolutely no standing.

It seems like the officers were arresting her on the premise she admitted to having a few drinks before driving home. Which is stupid because she also said she had a few drinks once she got home so any alcohol test results are pointless because there is not a way to determine if the impairment occurred before or after she got home. The article doesn’t state what the arrest was filed as, unless I missed it. I guess the officers wanted to make extra sure to violate some rights by taking pictures of the interior of her home for some reason, not sure what the angle was with that.

TLDR the police screwed up hard all around on this one and the chief did nothing to reprimand them.

EDIT: OP clarified in comment below. I misinterpreted some language in the article.

He's being petty. Basically trying to argue that if they're going to fund education then they might as well spend all their money on it. I'm sure from their perspective it was a win: "See, people don't actually want to fund schools properly, they're just afraid of change."

The problem is that even if their proposed increase was sound, they have burned any trust they had in the community.

If it rains and you had outside seats, you're out of luck.

I think it's worth it to buy regular tickets, but paying extra to have access to the bar/bathrooms right there might be worth it.

I had fun when I went, but there was a huge thunderstorm/downpours, and I can't imagine wanting to run out in the lightning vs. peeing my pant.

If you want expensive, ask about a season pass to gain access to the top floor. That shit is bonkers.

One has to appreciate that part of the "unsustainable status quo" happened because of a subsidy voucher program that is being utilized.

Somehow, everywhere else seems to be soldiering on without cutting their budgets in half.

"Our low cost options could be going away"

Jody - your low cost options were being supported by the state's tax dollars. Everyone's costs are going up. It's reality. What was "low cost" 5 years ago is "not enough" today.

Education is expensive, and it is 100% true that simply throwing money at it will hit the point of diminishing returns. Please, be a reasonable foil to unnecessary costs expended and keep the budget in check. But what the Underwoods did a year ago was dishonest, and painted a huge target on their back as they took actions - essentially unilaterally - that the town was clearly not in support of.

Kick dirt in your face?

Don't mind if I do.

As a childless person, I want the kids to have a good education, and am happy to pay a reasonable amount of taxes in order to support that education.

When Irving chose to skip 2 deliveries and then charge $340 for a service call and emergency delivery fee, I yeeted their empty tank and called a local provider. Irving came with a smallish crane flatbed truck, and lifted the empty tank while parked on the street. “I’m nearly at maximum extension and that’s why tanks are delivered purged with 10% fuel.” The crane would lift >1000 pounds at the truck, but not at full extension and merely 15 degrees of angle.

The local provider came with a smaller service truck, the same size tank and no means of getting over the snow. The tank @40% was tipped and slid into a tractor bucket, strapped and driven to the connection site.

These can be moved, it’s not rocket surgery.
