With your budget you won't find much at all, unless you can find a roommate situation. And as you only need it for the summer, you may also have trouble finding a short term rental, so I would seriously consider FDU, as I'm going to guess it may be cheaper. I live further out, and rents for 1BR where I am start at 1750 and up. Madison and the surrounding area is a lot more, which is why I moved further west. But Madison is nice, and Morristown isn't all that far away. and the train from Madison on that line goes right into NYC.

As far as not much to do, i guess it depends on exactly what you're looking TO do. Bars etc., Morristown is close and there are tons of places. You can take the train right into NYC from Madison, and you can also drive to the shore probably in an hour or so, without major traffic.

Also look into thredup and therealreal. ThredUp doesn’t give much, but for high end brands you can get a decent amount. It’s as simple as putting your items in a box and sending it in, but they won’t accept everything. I haven’t used therealreal, but it’s basically online consignment.

Check out Philadelphia as well a lot historic stuff to do there. Check the shore. Enjoy your stay. Car is a must to get around unless you are willing to get Uber. Get a prepaid sim for your phone and data need. Usually Visible wireless gives 30 days for free. Have fun!

Lol does sound very stalkish. Basically our friend in our friendship group had dual citizenship of both British & American. He was abused quite badly throughout his life from drugged up parents. He always said how he wanted to run away to his extended relatives in Piscataway. Last year he packed everything up & did a run & couldn’t reach him by phone. We just miss & want to see him one last time.

You can buy indoor plants pretty much anywhere. I wouldn’t say the quality of the plant varies. It’s organic, it’s going to last as long as you take care of it. I really like the herbary in farmingdale. Beautiful selection and nice staff will help you learn about the plants. But again, you can buy house plants at the grocery store, do what the little insert says, and they will thrive.

Yes, some alarm bells went off for me too. 23 is a bit young to lose track of someone and have to fly to another country to blindly search them out.

If this is a romantic interest OP. take a long look at your situation before you do this. There are better ways to find someone than stalking them to another continent.

Kind of amazed that people walk head down, headphones on, and don’t look before crossing. Especially in shopping plaza parking lots.

I just don’t trust anyone driving by with my life and my ability to continue walking around. People can be distracted, on their phone, or simply be terrible drivers.

Always amazed at how I see people crossing the street completely oblivious (and not just because they are looking at their phones). Like, if you are crossing a side street next to a major street, you better have eyes on the major street as there's always a chance some idiot is going to turn without seeing you.

Also....night is bad, but dusk is worse. At night at least headlights/streetlights really illuminate things. At dusk the light is washed out, really hard to see things.

It's a function of density. Even if it was legal to do right on red in Manhattan, I'd never even try it, just way too many pedestrians. Other places with fewer people walking it makes far more sense. People do need to be way more attentive when they're doing it though.
