I think they don't need a guard during the day since there'll be visitors looking at the paintings. They won't know it, but they're the ones reminding those creatures to stay in there during the day.

But now what's stopping Amy from selling the painting of Harper to someone else during the day when you're not around to stop her? Maybe it's better to take it home with you during the day and take it back with you on every shift since you still own it, so she doesn't have a chance to sell it to someone else. Otherwise you might never be able to find it again...

It reads like she put him out of his misery to me? She says she's going to get help and Jimmy begged her not to. Then she said it was the hardest thing she had to do and that he's not coming back. So dead, at least that's what I think.
