You’re alleging that Business Insider is just making up the quotes and data in this article?

Oh, I somehow missed that part in the article. Thanks for pointing it out.
EDIT: Actually, just reread and I can't find that information in the page. Can you point it out to me, or is there another outside source for it?
EDIT 2: Found a source. Thanks for the info, I'll update my summary.

Who knew creating money out literal thin air was bad?

To be fair, it did use the API for chatgpt, but that was a very small part of the extension. Really interesting to see how sophisticated these can be made so quickly.

The trick is to unpack fintech to its true symbol: currency transmission siphoning

For various p2p payment apps this is a huge problem.
On the one hand customers can finally pay whoever they want pretty much instantly by removing the a majority of checks and balances in more conventional slower forms of money transfer.
If the problem with that isn’t clear, it’s no wonder scammers are able to leverage these systems to do their business.
Often times, these systems aren’t insured like a debit or credit card would be either. Essentially, you make a mistake and it’s on you.

Is it gatekeeping? Ive just hecome aware on another sub about the gatekeeping shit stains that edit on wiki. What you and others describe re cherry picking and banning certain subs has me thinking its a similar structure in terms of gatekeeping basement bros&petty nonsense.
Also notice I cant find one single sub for tenant rights in ontario that is active? The one I found only allows "trusted users" to post and has ZERO posts itself other than the initial welcome etc etc. Seems landord stacked in the other subs.
Im new to this environment but late to the party as it seems. Overall I've found it helpful and more engaging than social media nonsense...but eek. This all sounds like a fucking mess.

The fundamental problem with bitcoin and crypto currencies is that the people making them want them to be inherently deflationary.
So it is useless as a currency because it incentivizes not spending it on anything so an economy based on it will collapse.

Reply to comment by [deleted] in Has TikTok made us better? Or much, much worse? by ps1AzSu6NG
yeah i definitely am not a real person who uses tiktok to watch sports content that is curated for my enjoyment. i couldn’t possibly have a hobby because i watch tiktok. i also annoy people going about their days by watching videos of other people annoying people going about their days by filming videos in their own homes or editing sports clips that were aired on TV. it’s really bothering people to watch these videos and to film them. yes. sure. 🙄
edit: tiktok haters, just say you don’t like change and new social media and move on. there’s TONS of content on the platform that isn’t people annoying others in public. podcast clips, DIY projects, wholesome pet content, tips for people in various jobs/hobbies from other people in the same fields, recipes and cooking videos, and an absurd amount of other things. it’s extremely weird and unhealthy to hive mind for no reason

Yeah it's all pretty much a ruse that's what I mean lol
The market goes up and down daily and weekly and monthly in amounts that crashed the 2008 Market. Not just mortgages but we have also seen "bank created wealth" and "the value of art" etc be just as much of a fraud for 1%ers to wash money as it ever has been
I think fintech has the potential to be even more damaging because some of those old safeguards made it so that very small groups of people were committing money with large amounts of wealth. I'm sure they have mitigations and stop gaps in place if things get too hairy, or I would like to believe that 😹
We have a lot more to lose this go around

I thought this was Luddite nonsense until I read the article.
They are very concerned about people being able to manipulate the bots quickly manufacture and disseminate “fake news”, among a few other things.
They want regulation.
