I’m glad this is a reaction I’m seeing to this show - we can never get through a rewatch because of how the misery outweighs the joy by a huge factor. For an adventure romance it’s mostly about trauma, rape, and murder and I think the showrunners might be a bit psychopathic.

I hope that part is true! I think it is, since the creator tweeted this same article. The premise is what everyone wanted in the first place. Not whatever this box-ticking lazy show was. Plus the show runner was trash. I’m still confused as to how she had so much power with such a brief resume.

That's simplifying it. There were a string of high profile murders and she found out that an extremely shady guy she knew just happened to be present for all of them. If anything she was the antithesis to a problem throughout the rest of the show - "how the fuck does nobody know Joe is a serial killer?"

If you're in the romance space (as opposed to women's fiction or romantic fiction) it's the norm because a HEA is required for it to be really called romance.

The final season was bizarre. My favorite power women, Bette, Gigi and Dani, disappeared halfway and somehow Rosie O'Donnell became the lead.

This is what I'm bummed about. We patiently sat through that entire Donald Faison storyline knowing it was leading to Tasha only to get two scenes of her in the end.

I've become a big fan of romance series where each book in the series has new characters and maybe there's a bit of a story that continues. I'm ten books into a romance series right now and it feels fresh because I get new characters each time. So many writers essentially end up writing their own fanfiction when they can't end their stories.
