TIL Vichy Pastilles were a digestive aid turned confectionery invented in 1825. The Vichy Regime of WW2 used the sweets as propaganda and did not ration them, unlike other foodstuffs. The name of the sweets is known to make some French citizens uneasy.

TIL During the 1966 World Cup final between England and West Germany, England were ahead in extra time, and striker Geoff Hurst tried to hit the ball as far into the stands as possible to waste time. Instead, he mishit the ball and sent it into the top corner of the German goal. England won 4-2.

TIL that Air Tahiti Nui Flight 64 holds the record as the world's longest domestic flight. The flight was between Papeete in French Polynesia and Paris (15,715 km/9,765 mi) taking 16h20. The current longest domestic flight is AF647 between Saint-Denis, Réunion and Paris (9,349 km/5,809 mi/11h40)
