Awful contractors. Had a tree guy come out Sunday for an estimate who was possibly on some sort of substance - he aggressively demanded to know others' quotes and returned to the house looking for water after leaving. On Monday we had to cancel an $8500 insulation job because the crew smashed a light fixture five minutes into working and said they didn't feel confident they could complete the job without additional damage. This morning's landscapers are two hours late to fix the job that the last landscapers butchered by pulling up all our plants after we'd explicitly asked to leave them be.

Sigh.

The original date for the ground braking of the first segment of the system was to originally be on 10 01 1968. However the chairman (William Natcher (D 2D KY) of the DC Subcommittee of the House Appropriation Committee blocked funding in exchange for building the never built systems of freeway in DC. The impasse ended on 11 25 1969 when President Richard Nixon (R) told him to back down. Ground was broken on 12 09 1969 a week after the first construction contract was awarded.

I would be concerned you’re going to double your budget on the things not specific in the contract. We received a lowball offer for our basement and when we got feedback from past customers, they stated that the contract was so bare bones they ended up fighting over what was a change order and spent a ton of extra money.
