I remember seeing a red tailed hawk last summer chilling on a bench near the monuments. I also thought that was odd behavior. I know they are pretty territorial and that is roughly the same area. Any chance that it’s the same hawk that has some weird tendencies or is it more likely that there is something that is affecting multiple hawks in the area? (Presuming most illnesses would have killed off the one I saw in early summer which I don’t know enough about diseases to know)

Lol post removed, y’all fell for a fake story.

Newsflash people, drivers can get lost, be looking for parking, or anything that causes them to circle the block. Doesn’t make you the center of their attention and idk how someone makes the logical jump from a car circling to “attempted kidnapping,” especially when OP never said anything about them getting out of their car.

FYI, city centre is not the term anyone in DC uses (although most will probably understand what you mean). Downtown is really the best word for the general area. More specifically people typically say the neighborhood, so for you telling people you're staying in Penn Quarter.

They always know what road/exit/position will cause maximum fuckage and it really annoys me. I’m all for first amendment rights but I hate when they are weaponized like this and used to harass other people. It doesn’t do your cause any good to piss a bunch of people off who are just trying to get somewhere on the only highway entrance.

Misinformation about sex trafficking is dangerous. It has historically been used as a cover for draconian laws and enforcement against sex workers, who are often charged with sex trafficking crimes for as little as letting a fellow sex worker use their apartment. I went to a long talk on the subject by a former sex worker a few years ago.

Yeah... No. One look at OPs post history pretty clearly shows they're a troll.

>they're new to the city and have always been told to avoid SE

>claims to live in Anacostia in a previous post

>took like 7 comments to decide which quadrant of N St this happened in.

There was no attack and no getaway. OP saw a car circling and left the area. After that, they came here and posted that they got away from kidnapping and that DC has a huge sex trafficking problem, which it doesn't.

If you take a look at their post history, you'll quickly question the validity of any of this. Either they've been the unluckiest person on Earth to have directly witnessed so much crime in such a short period of time, they're hyper scared of cities and overreacting to small things, or they enjoy making up stories and posting them here for karma.

🤔 a couple of thoughts:

1: I don’t think either Rasika or Filomena are highly hyped restaurants. Rasika gets more attention than Filomena, but it’s not mentioned much on social media or the “Best of” lists. I love Filomena, but only ever see/hear it brought up in context of where to bring family. Maybe I’m missing some foodie buzz, not being on Instagram 🤷‍♂️

2: Filomena is no where near city center.

3: Food poisoning? C’mon. You’re absolutely no more likely to get sick at these places than anywhere else.
