WMATA gets a lot of shit, but compared to the sorry state of public transportation in the US it's not that bad. They're trying and they're stuck balancing the desires of three states, two of which need to appease suburban commuters. And the Federal Government is here and sometimes meddles. Yeah it could be improved but we are still top 3 in the US.

NOVA dude here with a pal who lives and works around Woodley Park who recently mentioned nearly identical sentiments as OP.

Of course, he's also one of those guys who think one needs a Sherpa and oxygen bottles to travel from DC to Fairfax County to hit Udvar-Hazy. As a former Springfield, current Ashburn resident, I love me some blue and silver line....

Is the €4300 pre or post tax?

Post tax that’s decent enough money for starting out in DC.

You’ll want to find a room share, where you have roommates. You can get a room with multiple roommates for around $1000 per month.

I would recommend finding a place on or near a bus or metro line to work. You won’t need a drivers license.

There is also a fairly large French population in dc. You can find dedicated Facebook groups for that for more specific questions.

When I looked at this subreddit yesterday two of the top posts were:

One, this one, implying that a "Latino" man was trying to kidnap OP, though now that they've commented more it sounds like it was probably just a guy looking for parking

and

Two, a guy claiming that armed robberies are "exploding" in DC right now and saying that we all know the races of the perpetrators, implying that obviously the problem is black people - and when I looked at his post history he was a BMW obsessed bro living in the Wharf area and he actually said that he thinks the National Guard should occupy DC "24/7" to crack down on crime. The guy was unhinged.

It's not an easy job (and also a job that they don't get paid for), but the moderators will have to keep an eye out for crime-panic posts that don't really have merit.

I mean, it's nice that getting to/from IAD has gone from a 4-seat ride to a 3-seat one, but it's not world-shattering.

Edit: apparently from the downvotes a lot of people don't know how much one needs to use buses to get to/from metro stations. (or deal with several mile walks). You should try actually using the transit here.

yes definitely-- look for the private homes selling their off-street parking, on Half Street and on Carrolsburg Place-- those are much easier to get out of after the game than the big garages are. Just make sure you park exactly like the homeowner's instructions tell you to. Some of those spaces are tight.

Metro is like 1 block from the stadium too btw.
