I think I actually had an encounter with this guy, in Logan Circle on P Street in December. I was walking minding my own business and he came up next to me with a horrible gash on his hand asking me if he should go to a hospital. I didn't realize the situation at first and made the mistake of telling him yes, he should go to a hospital, or he's at risk of losing the hand. He took my response as an invitation to follow me around asking for $8, eventually getting a bit more aggressive then giving up. His eyes and his demeanor indicated he had been using drugs. I saw him again about a month ago, pestering people around 14th and K.

Not 100% it's the same guy, but the appearance and behavior are exactly the same. The sudden bursts of aggression are very concerning and people should be careful

EDIT: I just saw your other comment about him calling you a homophobic slur for not giving him money. He did the same to me for some reason, I really think it's the same guy

We have only one issue. With USAO and their directives.

Need only sunlight on the problem. Demand media do it.

Instead wapo writes new stories that are press releases. Allowing them to say a crime lab shutdown n 2021 prevents prosecution when we can show lack of prosecution in 2019.

Neither party is your friend. Demand better now by every institution

That said, if there's a threat or reasonable concern for safety they'll dispatch a CIT trained officer. They're a great resource but I've called them because a man made a vague threat to stab a person if he didn't get money or to harm himself and they essentially said 'at this point that's a 911 call' and politely but firmly got me off their line with an offer to transfer to 911 or allow me to call directly.

I appreciate your commitment to the resource but people should be aware it's not always the right one and you may be delaying getting help for yourself or others if the situation involves a threat.

Food's really good when I've gotten fed. You did a great job of describing the ballroom, however, you didn't answer the question.

Think of it from a top-down pov, as if you're looking at a set of blueprints.

The acoustics in this room are funky. The curved ceilings and walls give you a whisper room effect, so the back of house has to be careful, or their conversations will be overheard by people sitting in front of them. It also makes it a challenge for the audio lead, as the stage has very good acoustics, so it's easy to have the mics get overwhelmed.

I believe it's acoustics. I know the Hall of President's and Green Room is behind the stage. The stage is mechanical, it drops down to the garage for storage and load in purposes. On the other side is all a kitchen. Holds up to 150 tables, has a second tier, near the kitchen. The lighting in the ceiling soffit can change to any color you want, And the food sucks. Other than that, I dunno.

Ah the blessed Congressional oversight some here were so desperate for. This entire hearing was largely spent shouting at or talking over the DC reps invited and entirely done for sound bites for campaigning. There was little discussion of things like the USAO issues, issues with police testimony aligning with the body cams, issues with the forensics lab, etc. Just a bunch of dogwhistles and completely uneducated assertions about the District and its residents.
