Then who is it for? Why are so many stops so far away from everything? Why is it necessary to check across multiple apps (or pdfs) what the bus is so one can actually get from point A to B? Why is the "last bus problem" a constant threat meaning that you always have to be ready for a several mile walk? Especially if you're out after 4-8 pm (depending on the day of the week).

Is the goal actually to get people around?

You’re a class act my friend. Most appreciated. I am an active participant in therapy. I have a great support system and have a nice quiet life. Every couple of months I like to remind the diocese that I’m here and not going away. Not too loud, and not too quiet. Even if they never reply, I’m getting what I need. Sharing my experience on reddit has been a positive experience for me as well. Interactions like this reaffirm my hardwon notion that the world is generally a cool place no matter how cynical I can get. There was a very long time where that notion was not my go to. I also just like the fact that a lot of people in DC see this sub.

TBH if you street park it's highly likely you'll scrape your wheels against curbs and get dings etc, it's just a matter of time. It's the reality street parking in a city.

Quicker it happens quicker they make your wheels less desirable than your neighbors car for resale market.

It's the same concept with bikes. Cover your $$$ bike some duct tape, slap on a fake Huffy logo.

Specifically in Alabama - substantially less resources, more widespread poverty, and things like that. Of course if you guys want to get upset about comparing it to another state, then maybe let’s compare it to some of the cities that are supposed to be our peers (based on GDP per capita). San Francisco - 90.2%, Seattle - 86%, San Jose - 91%, and you could go on. The point is that DC has a major issue and it should be resolved. Being angry cause a specific politicians said something is absurd.

Ignoring is the only way. Then, and only then, if somebody still acts crazy to you, act crazy back. Folks giving unstable people the time of day blows my mind. You almost never hear native Washingtonians complain about this because we know not to engage and have perfected the resting bitch face.

The very few times someone has followed me or continuously harassed me, I’ve made so big and stupid of a scene that it scared them off. I’m a short, curvy, feminine woman and while I do get catcalled, I almost never get harassed the way people on this thread are describing.

If you don't already, please consider putting Metro Transit Police's text and call numbers in your phone. If something like this happens again, you can text your train's location (and which way it's going) to the number and tell them you're being threatened with assault. MTP has been a lot more responsive than MPD in my experience and an officer is usually on the train within 1-2 stops.
