Is it accredited? I'm 39, lived here my whole life and I've never heard of it. Is it a for-profit school and why are you thinking of attending? I've had many friends go to for-profit trade schools, like Lincoln Tech, who end up doing well for themselves. If it pretends to be a traditional university and you're investing thousands, do some research!!

What a pile of semantical excrement.

Nobody is confused by the common usage of “public good,” regardless of the purely academic textbook definition the author cites.

By any commonly understood meaning of the concept, public transit fits as a public good. Particularly when compared to the competing source for public investment and public space usage — roads.

Im sorry this happened to you. Racist incidents can stick with you and be impactful (negative or positive), and I really hope that it doesnt stick with you for long and impact your self worth. Just remember, and I’m sure you know this, you’re not below anyone. The aggressor/racist was a shit head and unstable. I’m glad you’re safe though because the fact that he followed is scary even if you’re with a friend at a crowded place. I hope he gets caught some day if not soon.

Public good is a widely used economics term that refers to a good such that, once provided, the good is 1) non-rivalrous and 2) non-excludable. By this definition transit is not a public good.

Non-rivalrous basically means “your use doesn’t affect my use.” Crowding out can occur very easily in transit so it’s rivalrous.

Non-excludable basically means no one can prevent you from accessing it. We install payment systems at the entrance so we do exclude people.

Textbook examples of public goods include national defense and clean air. Public transit should be well supported and financed, but they’re right it doesn’t meet the definition.

>I don't mean to sound racist in anyway so please don't take it as such, but why is racism against asians by black people such a common thing?

I'd say it isn't so common as its probably the most acceptable (or even encouraged) type of racism.

See Shaq & Asians vs Kyrie & Jews.

Also large segments of our nation love it when PoCs fuck with each other

A lot posts are obviously from people new to the city who had a scary experience and trying to warn people, ask about resources/reporting, thank helpful bystanders. Reddit probably isn't the best outlet and there are always asshats just bitching in the comments but everything doesn't need to be "here is my 5 point activism plan to solve safety concerns in the greater DC metro area"

That aside, this is also an insanely privileged take. A lot of people can't go to council meetings or volunteer because their health is poor or they're working insane hours just to make ends meet or have extensive caretaking responsibilities. They are still part of our community and still get a voice about how things should be.
