I'm so sorry this happened to you. This is why I'm glad they will be installing new fare gates. POSs like this shouldn't be allowed on the train, and I can almost guarantee you he didn't pay. Everyone deserves a safe, comfortable ride.

I'd also make sure you have reported this to Metro and even post on Metro GM Randy Clarke's Twitter. He is very active on there, and unlike previous GMs, he seems to genuinely care about the people who ride Metro.

“Dear Landlord, I noticed this month a 6% increase in rent without proper 60-day notification. Per (insert link to whatever law it is) you must provide this 60-Day notification. I am ok with the 6% rent in 60 days but will be paying my current rent untill then. Please let me know if you have any issues, if so I will have to reach out to (insert name of whatever entity).” Just double check you didn’t miss a piece of mail or email with it months ago. I am in Seattle and moving to DC this month and we have the same rules btw.

This is going to be unpopular, but I also blame parents for glorifying working from home. Kids look up to their parents as role models. Every day as a kid, I proudly watched my dad put on his work clothes and go to work in the morning. That helped motivate me to put on my school clothes (which back then wasn't pajama pants) and go to school in the morning. Now, if kids watch their parents sitting in their pajamas at home for work, it can be hard to feel motivated to go in-person to school every day. I'm not surprised that truancy rates are increasing.

Haha well it's not an unreasonable thought. My building two different missed a rent increase I think it just went under rader and bc I brought up at a tenant association meeting asking if anyone else noticed the same and most gave me the side eye bc they got a yearly rent increase 😬

I'll echo everyone else's comments. Your best bet is the Filmore in Silver Spring, especially if you're looking for nationally touring acts, but other venues will occasionally have shows too.

Out of curiousity, what metal venues are you seeing out towards Fairfax? Are you referring to Jaxx/Empire? If so, that permanently closed in 2015, and unless you count something like Jiffy Lube Live for huge summer shows way out in the Virginia Countryside, there aren't any metal venues anywhere near Fairfax.

I generally make the trek from Arlington to Silver Spring for the Filmore. Check out the lineup on their website to see if you like the bands that come through, but I'll be at the Spiritbox show in April.

Baltimore has a much bigger metal scene. Bands often play Boston/NYC/Philly/Baltimore, but skip DC entirely.
