I've worked downtown for twelve years. It's fine. I've never felt at risk down there, and prior to the pandemic I spent a lot of time after work there.

Saying "no" really isn't that hard, people on this sub act like they're being violated when a panhandler speaks to them.

If you live in Pennsylvania you had to get ~16 different vaccinations to enter primary school. No one made a big deal about that because your masters didn't tell you to get mad about it.

There was a cop in Pittsburgh that pistolwhipped and shot some random that he thought mouthed off to him after leaving a bar. No charges, wasn't fired, took nearly twenty years of repeated incidents to get rid of the guy.

They wield the real power in our cities and they're quite open about how untouchable they are.

I work for UPMC on the insurance services side and the insurance is pretty good, they cover an incredibly expensive injectable my wife takes for a chronic disease. I've got no complaints.

In general health insurers cover what the policy holder asks them to cover. If your insurance doesn't cover much, you can talk to your HR department about it because they set the terms.

Instead, we're spending $1.3b to add eight miles to the Mon-Fayette expressway, a highway to nowhere serving nobody that was planned out in the early eighties. What a fuckin' disgrace.

You can also find an open letter from the CEO of Exxon to Joe Biden basically saying that they're never expanding refinery capacity unless the federal government pays to build it for them.

The company that owns Eggland's Best, Land o' Lakes, and a bunch of other companies is jacking up egg prices despite not being affected by avian flu, because they can.

It really isn't good that we have companies that can essentially punish the electorate for voting in politicians they don't like. Someone should really do something about that.
