Being an “illegal” immigrant takes nothing away from “legal” immigrants. What is unfair for people attempting to immigrate through proper channels and not seek asylum is that the process takes so damn long. If you lived in a dangerous area where your life was being threatened by the govt and more and you felt so strongly that you had to flee to Canada, would you want them to say “sorry you can’t come in. You have to go back and do it the right way.” Or would you want them to have compassion and work with you to help you obtain legal status

Beach pizza - head up to Salisbury and try both Christy’s and Tripoli’s Roast Beef - I haven’t tried them yet but I hear great things about Bill & Bob’s. Chinese take-out: I will always recommend Jade Gourmet in Wakefield but not sure if that’s close enough to you. I know a lot of people like Billy Tse’s in Revere as well. Kowloon on Rt 1 Saugus has the best chicken fingers but the rest is just ok and it’s overpriced for everything.

I think it was a sense of fear and lack of knowledge. Everyone was desperate to get to zero Covid. We now know that isn’t possible even in China where they have been brutal about their restrictions. What so far as been discovered is that the vaccine helped alleviate symptoms and help keep people out of the hospital system while doctors and medical personnel learned how best to treat it, but that was hard to foresee because we were in the middle of a worldwide experiment. Now we can say well if you don’t want the vaccine that’s on you, good luck, and stay the fuck away from the rest of us.

I think what they needed to implement far more than a vaccine mandate was an increase of paid sick time in every industry but places are so afraid of that minority of people who will take advantage.

Taxing individuals won’t change anything. People will still consume what they want. If you want to tax anyone then tax the corporation more. Of course they will just pass that expense on to the consumer and we’re in the same place we started. Give it a rest.

I guess it’s been awhile since I spent significant time in Medford. Some of my family lived there in the 80s/90s and it has always had nicer areas. I was wondering if they had only been to the Tufts or West Medford areas. Back in the day the parts near Somerville were the worst frankly, but I guess some of the gentrifiers crossed the border.
