Check and make sure they have the proper and up to date rental licensing and permits. If not legally you don’t have to pay rent and they aren’t legally allowed to receive rent payments. They will also be fined and written a citation.

Nelson Kohl apartment complex and the City Arts apartments 1 & 2 are artists specific housing in order rent rent you have to show proof of portfolio and rent is based of your work (or something to that effect). They’re in Station north/greenmount west. There’s several other artist designated apartment complexes in the certified “art districts” I believe the Bromo Tower apartments are also.

I’m not this old, but my understanding is that a lot of people have bad feelings towards the development of the inner harbor, it took much of the cities priority, focus and resources away from “rest of Baltimore” and funneled it all into the waterfront and it’s neighborhoods while other former retail districts and residential areas deteriorated due to disinvestment. It also didn’t help that this was during urban flight and suburban growth. And shortly after the race riots of the assassination of MLK (1968). That being said, the overall benefits of the change from working harbor port to current tourism/amenity redevelopment are obvious.

Towson, Catonsville, Woodlawn and several other places are old street car suburbs of Baltimore. Wealthy Baltimoreans from the city built their summer homes in these places to escape to city. Much of Baltimore county is just as old as Baltimore city. It’s the other suburb/exurb counties that are products of white flight and sprawl.

Owings mills has transit oriented mixed use development at metro center.

I grew up in the same county, but Bel Air. Even if you’re a hermit and don’t go out I wouldn’t recommend Aberdeen. It’s not the worst but if you can do better, I would.

Try Havre De Grace, Bel Air (south), Abingdon, Fallston, Forrest hill or Belcamp
