Maybe they shouldn't have to tried to shelter, support and protect the Taliban and Al Q'aeda when the US was trying to root them out for the last 20 years.

The US supported the Taliban in the 80's during the Russian-Afghanistan Invasion and while that help drive out the Russians, it also gave them 9/11, in return.

Gargoyles comes to mind. Season 1 was the origin and setup. Season 2 had heavy world building and lots of back history. You discover characters are not who they seem (e.g. Owen), then you have the world tour and it finally ends with an old enemy becoming an ally and an entirely new enemy.

Meanwhile there is an entire tapestry of continuity throughout.

True fans pretty much ignore season 3 (except for the first episode).

That's their M.O. As a tax exempt 'church' (I use that term loosely) they spend all of their money from their members buying real estate, as L. Ron Hubbard originally did. And because they claim to be using the buildings for 'Spiritual Purposes', they are exempt from paying property tax.

They own almost half the real estate on Hollywood Boulevard and a lot all over LA.

For real, once met a girl named Midori Green (not Japanese). Either her parents had a sick sense of humor, or were serious alcoholics.

(In case you didn't know, since this isn't a joke, Midori is Japanese for Green, it's also a the name of a green Japanese liqueur).
